Full Job Description

Job Summary

As the glaucoma scribe, you will be working closely with Dr. Stephanie Muylaert, MD, to perform various clinical, administrative, and operating room-related tasks in a fast-paced and busy clinic and OR. This opportunity provides an amazing learning experience working 1-on-1 with Dr. Muylaert to help care for many glaucoma patients. The scribe receives personal training to perform the following tasks:

- accurately documenting pertinent information into patient charts through an electronic health record system

- functioning as the primary point of communication between patients, technicians, schedulers, and Dr. Muylaert

- accompany Dr. Muylaert to the operating room every week - completing operative reports and operating laser-assisted cataract technology and ORA machines to assist during cataract surgery (training provided)

- assisting the doctor with in-office laser procedures (YAG laser procedures, SLT, Laser Iridotomies, etc.) and in-office surgical procedures

- reconciling prescriptions and answering prescription questions

- clerical duties: reconciling billing, writing patient letters, patient form completion, assisting technicians with glaucoma-related questions.

- learning about the intricacies of glaucoma and ophthalmic care.

Requirements:
- Previous clinical experience working in ophthalmology or another medical field (1 year).
- Familiarity with electronic medical record systems
- Excellent typing skills with accuracy and attention to detail
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to multitask and prioritize tasks effectively, de-escalate when needed
- Flexibility to adapt to changing work environments and schedules

Dr. Muylaert requires a phone interview prior to applicants coming in to shadow the clinic.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $25.00 - $27.00 per hour
