Full Job Description

Job Summary

We are seeking a detail-oriented Assistant Accountant to work in close partnership with our lead Accountant. In this role, you will be an integral part of the finance team, providing direct support in managing the day-to-day financial operations. This position offers a unique opportunity for mentorship and professional growth as you will assist in high-level financial reporting, compliance, and strategic analysis.

Key Responsibilities

Direct Collaboration: Work closely with the Lead Accountant to ensure all financial records are accurate and up to date.
General Ledger Management: Assist in maintaining the general ledger, including preparing and posting journal entries.
Month-End Support: Support the month-end and year-end closing processes by reconciling balance sheets and investigating variances.
Bank Reconciliations: Perform daily bank reconciliations to ensure all transactions are accounted for.
Update Check Payment Register.
Ad-hoc Reporting: Prepare financial reports and data exports to assist the lead accountant in strategic decision-making.

Required Qualifications

Experience: 1–3 years of experience in an accounting or bookkeeping role.
Software Skills: Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., Rent Manager, QuickBooks, or Sage) and advanced MS Excel skills.
Skills & Competencies
Analytical Thinking: Ability to identify discrepancies and solve complex numerical problems.
Communication: Strong verbal and written skills for effective collaboration with the lead accountant and other departments.
Discretion: High level of integrity when handling sensitive financial data.
Organization: Excellent time management skills with the ability to meet strict monthly deadlines.

Pay: $18.00 - $23.00 per hour

Work Location: In person
