Full Job Description

The Materials Manager oversees daily activities in shipping, receiving, warehouse and packaging areas of the company to ensure the efficient and effective management of all materials within the company. This includes raw materials, parts, components, finished goods as well as packaging materials. The Materials Manager works to ensure that materials are available when needed and that they are correct with respect to quantity, quality and item(s) requested. The Materials Manager will also be responsible for the development and implementation of systems and procedures relating to the storage, handling, and shipping of materials. Coordinates work schedules with planners, staffing requirements, and production sequences to maximize productivity. A Materials Manager also identifies problems that could impact production schedules on process and provides production reports to facilitate process improvement.

This is a hands-on position that is responsible for the development of policies and procedures designed to increase productivity, assure quality, and mitigate production problems. To this end, the Materials Manager will improve throughput with the objective of reducing overall costs and enhancing customer satisfaction.

Job Duties include but are not limited to:

· Manage and supervise the employees working in the shipping, receiving, warehouse and packaging areas of the company.

· Work hand in hand with Sales and Production Planning ensuring that component parts are available and delivered as needed to the production lines to ensure timely completion of product to meet customer’s needs.

Preparing work schedules and assigning specific duties.
Focus on ensuring that the materials already purchased are properly used and applied to customer orders.
Work with Purchasing to oversee and monitor the inventory of the company.
Evaluate each step of the production process to maintain optimum efficiency.
Ensure compliance with company policy, procedures, and applicable regulations.
Maintain communication between management and employees to ensure that necessary policies are understood and followed.
Assist with the onboarding process of new hires.
Develop and oversee employee training to increase production, enhance safe operations, and ensure profitability.
Conduct annual reviews for staff performance.
Monitor department performance against goals to ensure that progress is being made, and that corrective action is taken if necessary.

Strong leadership skills
Strong organizational and time management skills
Ability to manage multiple projects and stay on schedule in a fast-paced environment
Excellent oral, written, and listening skills.
Self-motivated with a results-driven approach
Problem-solving skills
Hydraulics knowledge a plus but not required
At least 3 years of supervisory experience in a manufacturing plant environment required.

Education

Background in Materials Management with hands on experience in: Master Scheduling, Demand Planning, Materials Manager, Supply Chain Management, Supervisory experience.

APICS Certification is preferred but not required.
Bachelor’s degree in related field of study
2-3 years of work experience in similar field

Salary commensurate with experience.

Job Type: Full-time
