Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and highly skilled Travel Registered Nurse (RN) to join our dynamic healthcare team in the Cath Lab department. This role offers an opportunity to provide specialized cardiac and vascular care in a fast-paced hospital environment. The ideal candidate will possess extensive critical care experience, including proficiency with cardiac catheterization procedures, and demonstrate a strong commitment to patient safety and quality care. As a Travel RN, you will play a vital role in supporting our facility’s mission to deliver exceptional cardiovascular services while advancing your professional expertise.

Key responsibilities include delivering comprehensive patient assessments, assisting with complex catheterization procedures, maintaining sterile techniques, and ensuring accurate documentation within electronic health record (EHR) systems. You will collaborate closely with multidisciplinary teams to optimize patient outcomes and adhere to hospital protocols and safety standards. This position emphasizes active engagement in patient care, technical proficiency, and adherence to regulatory requirements such as HIPAA and infection control policies.

Responsibilities

Perform detailed patient assessments, including vital signs, medical history review, and physiological evaluations relevant to cardiac procedures.
Assist cardiologists during cardiac catheterization, angiography, and other interventional procedures while maintaining aseptic technique.
Administer medications, including IV infusions and sedation, following prescribed protocols.
Monitor patients continuously for signs of acute pain or complications; respond swiftly to emergencies such as airway issues or hemodynamic instability.
Maintain sterile field setup, catheter care, and proper specimen collection for laboratory analysis.
Document all patient interactions accurately within EMR/EHR systems like Epic or Cerner; ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations.
Support post-procedure recovery by assessing patient status and providing education on discharge instructions.
Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to coordinate care plans for patients with complex cardiovascular needs.
Ensure infection control standards are upheld throughout all procedures and patient interactions.
Participate in ongoing training related to cardiology nursing practices, new technologies, and hospital policies.

Qualifications

Valid RN license in the state of practice with current BLS certification; ACLS certification preferred.
Minimum of two years of critical care experience in hospital settings; prior experience in cath lab or interventional cardiology strongly preferred.
Proficiency with EMR/EHR systems such as Epic or Cerner; familiarity with ICD coding is advantageous.
Demonstrated expertise in invasive procedures including catheterization, suturing, IV insertion, and aseptic technique.
Strong knowledge of cardiovascular physiology, pharmacology related to cardiac care, and emergency response protocols.
Experience working with diverse patient populations including those with developmental disabilities or memory care needs is desirable.
Ability to work effectively within high-pressure environments requiring quick decision-making and precise execution.
Excellent communication skills for collaboration with multidisciplinary teams and patient education.
