Registered Nurse (RN) – Immunization Nurse (Vaccination Initiative)

Location: State College, PA 16803
Job Type: Contract | Full-Time | Onsite
Contract Duration: August 23, 2026 – November 30, 2026
Schedule: 56 Hours/Week | Sunday – Saturday | 10:00 AM – 7:30 PM (Flexible Schedule Required)

Job Overview

We are seeking a compassionate and patient-focused Registered Nurse (RN) to join a community vaccination initiative. This is a patient-facing role responsible for administering a wide range of immunizations in a retail healthcare setting while delivering exceptional clinical care and customer service. The ideal candidate is adaptable, clinically skilled, and committed to promoting public health through safe and efficient vaccine administration.

Key Responsibilities

Administer vaccines including Influenza (Flu), COVID-19, MMR, Tdap, Hepatitis A & B, Shingles (Zoster), Pneumococcal, HPV, RSV, and other CDC-recommended immunizations.
Assess patients prior to vaccination and review medical history for contraindications.
Monitor patients for adverse reactions following immunization and provide appropriate intervention when necessary.
Maintain accurate and timely documentation of vaccinations in accordance with company and regulatory guidelines.
Educate patients regarding vaccine schedules, benefits, potential side effects, and post-vaccination care.
Follow infection prevention and PPE protocols to ensure a safe clinical environment.
Demonstrate empathy, professionalism, and excellent customer service during all patient interactions.
Collaborate effectively with pharmacists, healthcare professionals, and store staff to ensure efficient clinic operations.
Maintain vaccine inventory and ensure proper storage and handling following CDC and manufacturer guidelines.
Support daily clinic workflow while maintaining compliance with company policies and healthcare regulations.
Adapt to changing patient volumes and scheduling needs in a fast-paced retail healthcare environment.

Required Qualifications

Active, unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Pennsylvania (or compact/state authorization as applicable).
Minimum 1 year of nursing experience, including immunization administration and direct patient care.
Current BLS (Basic Life Support) certification.
Strong clinical skills, including medication administration and vaccine administration.
Excellent interpersonal, communication, and patient education skills.
Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends.
Must possess a High School Diploma or GED.
Must not be listed on the DEA Excluded Parties List.
Previous CVS/Aetna experience is not required.

Preferred Qualifications

Previous experience in retail health clinics, community health, occupational health, urgent care, or public health.
Experience administering high-volume vaccination clinics.
Familiarity with electronic health records (EHR) and immunization documentation systems.
Strong organizational and multitasking abilities.
