Full Job Description

Degree in American Sign Language (ASL) Interpreting, certified ASL Interpreter credentials, and 1+ year of experience as an ASL Interpreter in educational settings. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.

Position Title: Virtual Speech-Language Interpreter
Location: Pennsylvania (Fully Remote)
Employment Type: Full-Time Contract Position
Schedule: 37.5–40 Hours per week

Position Overview

We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Virtual Speech-Language Interpreter to provide remote interpretation services for students and educational teams across Pennsylvania. This full-time opportunity is ideal for professionals who are passionate about facilitating communication, supporting student success, and collaborating with multidisciplinary teams in a virtual environment.

The ideal candidate will be comfortable working remotely, possess strong interpersonal and communication skills, and have experience supporting students within educational settings.

Key Responsibilities

Provide virtual interpretation services during instructional sessions, evaluations, meetings, and school-related activities
Facilitate clear and effective communication between students, families, educators, and service providers
Support student access to educational content, services, and accommodations
Collaborate with teachers, special education staff, administrators, and families to ensure communication needs are met
Maintain confidentiality and professionalism in accordance with federal, state, and district guidelines
Complete service documentation and maintain accurate records as required
Utilize telepractice and virtual communication platforms effectively
Participate in team meetings, trainings, and professional development activities as needed

Qualifications

Bachelor's level degree in ASL or Education Interpreting
EIPA Score of 3.5 or high and written test
Relevant interpreter certification, licensure, or credentials
Previous experience providing interpretation services in educational settings preferred
Experience working remotely or through virtual service delivery platforms preferred
Strong verbal communication, listening, and interpersonal skills
Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team
Familiarity with educational terminology and school-based services preferred
Reliable internet connection and professional home office setup required

Preferred Experience

K–12 school-based interpretation experience
Virtual interpretation or telepractice experience
Experience supporting special education teams and related services
Proficiency with Zoom, Microsoft Teams, Google Meet, and other virtual platforms
Experience working with diverse student populations
