Full Job Description

Job Title: Education Director

Reports to: Artistic Director

Status: Full-time, non-exempt

Description: The Education Director is responsible for all aspects of the Pensacola Little Theatre’s education programs, including the design, development, and execution of programs, workshops, classes, camps and events consistent. The position is also responsible for the oversight of the school field trips and outreach programming, ensuring exceptional audience experience while maximizing revenue and community engagement.

The Education Director has duties as follows:

Work closely with the Artistic Director to develop and implement new educational programs.
Oversee and manage all educational programming for the community theatre.
Develop and schedule 14–17 theatre education classes per semester for pre-K- adults.
Plan, organize, and supervise 12–15 summer camp programs annually.
Recruit, hire, train, and evaluate teaching artists, camp staff, program assistants, and education interns.
Contract and make payroll arrangements for teachers, working with the Finance Director.
Teach select classes per semester (required). Substitute for absent instructors.
Create engaging curriculum in acting, musical theatre, technical theatre, improv, and related performing arts disciplines.
Maintain high-quality educational standards and ensure age-appropriate instruction.
Coordinate class registration, enrollment tracking, waitlists, and communication with families and students (Active Works software).
Manage education program budgets, supply purchases, and resource allocation.
Collaborate with production staff to integrate educational opportunities with theatre productions and community events.
Develop outreach partnerships with schools, community organizations, and local arts groups.
Ensure compliance with safety procedures, child protection policies, and theatre facility guidelines.
Organize student showcases, camp performances, and educational events.
Promote education programs through marketing efforts, social media collaboration, and community engagement initiatives.
Evaluate program success through feedback, attendance tracking, and performance outcomes.
Assist Artistic Director and Executive Director in writing grants for Education Program.
Serve as the primary point of contact for education program participants, parents, and instructors.
Support the theatre’s mission by fostering creativity, inclusion, collaboration, and arts education within the community.

It is the duty of the Education Director to maintain a high standard of performance. If problems arise or come to his/her attention, he/she will discuss these with the Artistic Director and other personnel involved to come to a speedy and satisfactory solution.

Preferred Qualifications

 Bachelor’s degree in Theatre, Arts Education, Education, or related field (or equivalent experience).

 Experience teaching theatre arts and managing educational programs.

 Strong organizational, leadership, and communication skills.

 Experience supervising staff and working with children and teens.

 Knowledge of community theatre operations and arts programming.

 Ability to work evenings and weekends as needed for classes, camps, performances, and theatre events.
