Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled and dynamic Registered Nurse Director specializing in Operating Room (OR) management to lead our surgical services team. The ideal candidate will possess extensive perioperative care experience, strong leadership capabilities, and a comprehensive understanding of healthcare regulations and patient safety standards. In this pivotal role, you will oversee all aspects of OR operations, ensuring the delivery of exceptional patient care while maintaining compliance with industry policies and regulations. Your expertise in managing multidisciplinary teams, optimizing surgical workflows, and implementing quality improvement initiatives will be instrumental in fostering a safe, efficient, and patient-centered environment.

Responsibilities

Provide strategic leadership and oversight for all OR activities, including staffing, scheduling, and resource allocation to ensure optimal operational efficiency.
Supervise nursing staff and surgical teams, fostering a collaborative environment that emphasizes professional development, accountability, and high-quality patient care.
Ensure compliance with health regulation policies such as HIPAA, state healthcare regulations, and hospital standards to uphold patient safety and confidentiality.
Oversee the development and review of care plans for surgical patients, integrating physiology knowledge and medical terminology to support accurate documentation and effective case management.
Manage documentation review processes within electronic medical record (EMR) systems to ensure accuracy, completeness, and regulatory compliance.
Lead quality improvement initiatives aimed at enhancing patient outcomes, reducing risks, and maintaining accreditation standards across the surgical department.
Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams to monitor patient care throughout perioperative phases including preoperative preparation, intraoperative procedures, and postoperative recovery.
Oversee budget management related to OR supplies, equipment maintenance, and staffing costs while ensuring regulatory compliance with Medicare standards.

Qualifications

Extensive experience in perioperative nursing or surgical nursing with a strong background in acute care settings such as hospitals or outpatient surgical centers.
Proven management experience supervising nursing teams within an OR environment or similar healthcare setting.
In-depth knowledge of health regulation policies including HIPAA, state healthcare regulations, Medicare requirements, and hospital accreditation standards.
Demonstrated expertise in case management, care planning, surgical nursing procedures, and patient monitoring techniques.
Familiarity with EMR systems for documentation review and medical records management.
Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate teams, communicate effectively at all levels of the organization, and lead project initiatives successfully.
Knowledge of healthcare management principles including budgeting, regulatory compliance, quality improvement strategies, and resource allocation.
Certifications in perioperative nursing (such as CNOR) are preferred; a valid RN license is required along with current CPR certification.
