Full Job Description

We are a busy Family Medicine practice in Gilbert currently seeking an experienced and knowledgeable Medical Scribe to assist our healthcare team with documenting patient medical records. This is a great opportunity for prospective students seeking advanced degrees in the medical field.

The Medical Scribe will function as a personal data assistant to the provider by accompanying them during the patient exam while recording accurate and detailed information into the electronic medical record (EMR) and will perform other related medical record or clerical duties to increase provider effectiveness, efficiency, and productivity for improved patient flow and satisfaction. The ideal candidate will provide the highest quality customer service to patients, adhere to practice protocols and processes.

Job Duties:

Accompanies physician into the patient examination room to transcribe a history and physical exam, and document accurately the physician’s encounter with the patient and others present.
Lists all proper diagnoses and symptoms as well as follows up on instructions and prescriptions as dictated by the physician.
Transcribes patient orders including laboratory tests, radiology tests, medications. etc.
Establishes and maintains effective working relationships with physicians and staff.
Maintains a high level of customer service with patients to make them feel comfortable and at ease.
Maintains safe, secure, and healthy work environment by following standards and procedures, complying with legal regulations.
Protects patients’ rights by maintaining confidentiality of personal and financial information to comply with HIPAA and Practice requirements.
Performs all other duties or assumes responsibilities as directed by the supervisor, physicians, or other staff to maintain the office flow and support the goals of the Practice.

Skills and Qualifications:

Bachelors degree in healthcare field strongly preferred.
One year’s previous experience as a Medical Scribe preferred or one-year related experience and/or training or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Knowledge of human anatomy and medical terminology
Recognition of physical exam process and ability to record exam details and anatomy.
Computer proficiency and ability to quickly learn new applications, and ability to accurately record information. Nextgen EMR experience preferred.
Minimum typing speed of 60 wpm
Excellent customer service skills with the ability to communicate clearly and concisely.
Able to act calmly and effectively in a busy or stressful situation.
Able to multitask, prioritize work, be flexible and detail oriented, and a team player with a positive attitude.
Maintain a high level of patient confidentiality.

Hours and Location:

Clinic hours are Monday through Friday 7:30am - 5:00pm and Saturday 7:30am - 2:00pm. Must be available to work one Saturday per month.
This is a full-time position.
Single location at Lindsay and Warner in Gilbert. This is not a remote position.

Salary is based on qualifications and experience.

Benefits are available after 90 days.
