Position Summary
The Licensed Therapist provides high-quality behavioral health services to children, adolescents, adults, couples, and families through both telehealth and in-person sessions. Therapists utilize evidence-based, solutions-focused interventions to assess, diagnose, treat, and support clients experiencing mental health, behavioral, emotional, and life challenges. This role requires the ability to perform all duties independently, with minimum supervision, in alignment with Compass to The Crest's Service Standards and contractor agreement.
Key Responsibilities
Clinical Care
- Conduct comprehensive biopsychosocial assessments and establish DSM-5 diagnoses as appropriate.
- Develop individualized, strengths-based, evidence-based, and solutions-focused treatment plans.
- Provide individual, family, couples, and group therapy.
- Deliver trauma-informed, culturally responsive behavioral health services.
- Utilize evidence-based modalities including CBT, DBT, ACT, Motivational Interviewing, Solution-Focused Therapy, and other clinically appropriate interventions.
- Monitor client progress and adjust treatment plans as clinically indicated.
Documentation & Compliance
- Complete all clinical documentation in SimplePractice within 48 hours of service delivery — timely data entry is required and directly impacts contractor reimbursement and contract renewal.
- Navigate SimplePractice independently within the first 30 days of service.
- Maintain accurate, legally compliant records in accordance with HIPAA and all applicable privacy laws.
- Use only HIPAA-compliant telehealth platforms for all virtual services.
- Maintain current licensure; updated licensure documentation must be submitted to Compass to The Crest on a bi-annual basis.
- Maintain a current Department of Child Safety (DCS) clearance and a valid DMV report with no active license suspensions.
- Adhere to organizational policies, ethical standards, and state licensing requirements.
Crisis Intervention
- Conduct suicide and violence risk assessments.
- Independently manage behavioral health crises within scope of practice.
- Coordinate emergency referrals and safety planning as necessary.
- Fulfill all mandated reporting responsibilities under state and federal law.
Supervision, Staffing & Professional Development
- Participate in clinical staffing at minimum every 14 days; all cases must be staffed without exception.
- Bring high-risk cases to the clinical supervisor immediately, regardless of time since last staffing.
- Attend clinical supervision sessions and engage in ongoing continuing education requirements.
- Participate in case consultations and team meetings as requested.
Cultural Competence
- Provide services relevant to each client's and family's cultural background and identity.
- Demonstrate self-awareness and actively set aside personal beliefs that could introduce bias into clinical practice.
Client & Professional Engagement
- Establish trusting therapeutic relationships built on empathy, respect, and collaboration.
- Coordinate care with physicians, schools, DCS, probation, community agencies, and other providers as appropriate.
- Maintain professionalism and collaborative relationships with colleagues and community partners.
Licensure Requirements
A master's-level degree in a behavioral health field is required. Requirements are consistent across both states. Associate-level licensure is required; independent licensure is preferred.
Arizona — Active licensure through the Arizona Board of Behavioral Health Examiners (BBHE):
- Associate-level licensure required (LMSW, LAC, or equivalent associate credential)
- Independent licensure preferred (LCSW, LPC, LMFT)
- Additional accepted licenses: LMSW, LAC (practicing within agency guidelines)
Indiana — Active licensure through the Indiana Professional Licensing Agency:
- Associate-level licensure required (MSW with associate credential, LAC, or equivalent)
- Independent licensure preferred (LCSW, LMHC, LMFT, HSPP)
Required Compliance Documentation
All contractors must maintain active compliance throughout their engagement. Required documentation includes:
- Current State Licensure — renewed bi-annually; updated documentation submitted to C2C each renewal
- Professional Liability / Malpractice Insurance
- CPR / First Aid Certification
- Criminal Background Check
- Department of Child Safety (DCS) Clearance
- DMV Report reflecting no active license suspensions
- Arizona DPS Fingerprint Clearance Card (AZ contractors)
- TB Skin Test or equivalent screening (IN contractors, if required)
- Valid driver's license and automobile insurance (if providing community-based services)
All contractors must complete required onboarding and compliance training within the first 30 days, including:

- HIPAA & Confidentiality
- Cultural Humility
- Safety Planning & De-escalation
- Agency Policies and Procedures
- SimplePractice (EHR) Training
Preferred Clinical Experience
Experience working with any of the following populations or presenting concerns is a plus:
- Trauma and complex trauma
- Child welfare and DCS-involved families
- Parenting support and family reunification
- Anxiety, depression, ADHD, and behavioral disorders
- Grief and loss
- Substance use disorders
- Couples counseling
- Community mental health
Technology Requirements
- SimplePractice (EHR) — independent proficiency required within 30 days
- Microsoft Office Suite and Google Workspace
- HIPAA-compliant telehealth platform
- Reliable high-speed internet connection for telehealth services
Work Schedule
- Hybrid position — telehealth and in-person
- Minimum commitment of 15–20 hours per week
- Flexible scheduling based on mutual agreement with Compass to The Crest
- Evening and weekend availability preferred
Compensation & Support
