Full Job Description

Job Summary

We are seeking a dedicated LIHTC Assistant Property Manager to join our team, supporting the management of affordable housing communities that utilize the Low-Income Housing Tax Credit (LIHTC) program. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of property management practices, fair housing regulations, and LIHTC compliance, contributing to the mission of providing safe, affordable, and well-managed housing options.

Responsibilities

Assist in managing day-to-day property operations, including leasing, rent collection, and resident relations.
Support compliance efforts with LIHTC regulations, Section 8 housing programs, and Fair Housing laws.
Conduct tenant screenings, including background checks and income verification in accordance with program requirements.
Maintain accurate records using property management software such as Yardi or OneSite.
Coordinate lease signings, renewals, and move-in/move-out procedures efficiently.
Address resident concerns through effective communication and crisis intervention when necessary.
Collaborate with legal teams on landlord-tenant law issues and eviction proceedings.
Support ongoing staff training on fair housing practices and social work principles.
Assist in financial reporting, budget preparation, and audit documentation.
Participate in community outreach efforts to promote resident engagement and satisfaction.
Utilize motivational interviewing techniques to support residents facing challenges such as addiction or crisis situations.

Requirements

Proven experience in property management or affordable housing programs, preferably with LIHTC or Section 8 properties.
Knowledge of LIHTC compliance standards, landlord-tenant law, Fair Housing regulations, and Section 8 policies.
Strong negotiation skills for lease agreements and conflict resolution.
Experience with property management software such as Yardi or OneSite.
Familiarity with crisis management and crisis intervention strategies.
Background in social work or addiction counseling is a plus.
Excellent communication skills to engage diverse populations effectively.
Ability to interpret and apply federal, state, and local housing regulations accurately.
Demonstrated ability to handle sensitive situations with professionalism and discretion.
