Job Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and highly skilled Travel Registered Nurse (RN) specializing in telemetry to join our dynamic healthcare team for night shifts, working 48-hour weekly schedules. This role offers an exciting opportunity to provide exceptional patient care in a fast-paced hospital environment. The ideal candidate will possess extensive experience in telemetry nursing, critical care, and a broad range of medical procedures, ensuring comprehensive support for diverse patient needs. As a Travel RN, you will deliver high-quality nursing services while adapting to various clinical settings, contributing to improved patient outcomes and operational excellence.

Duties

Provide expert nursing care to patients requiring telemetry monitoring, including continuous cardiac rhythm assessment and vital signs evaluation.
Administer medications, including IV infusions and botulinum toxin treatments, following strict aseptic techniques and safety protocols.
Conduct comprehensive patient assessments, including physical examinations and physiological evaluations, to inform treatment plans.
Perform specialized procedures such as catheterization, suturing, and specimen collection with precision and adherence to clinical standards.
Utilize electronic health record (EHR) systems like Epic and Cerner for accurate documentation of patient care activities and medical records management.
Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams on discharge planning, triage assessments, and case management to optimize patient recovery pathways.
Maintain infection control standards through proper sterilization practices and adherence to HIPAA regulations concerning medical records confidentiality.
Support emergency response efforts by managing airway management, ventilator support, and acute pain management in critical situations.
Assist with diagnostic evaluations using laboratory testing and imaging techniques such as CT scans or sonography when necessary.
Engage in ongoing professional development by staying current with ICD coding updates (ICD-9/ICD-10) and hospital protocols related to trauma medicine, infectious disease care, geriatrics, and hospice services.

Experience

Proven experience working as a telemetry nurse in hospital settings with exposure to Level I or Level II trauma centers preferred.
Demonstrated proficiency in critical care environments such as ICU or CCU units, including acute care experience.
Familiarity with EMR/EHR systems like Epic, Cerner, Athenahealth, or eClinicalWorks for documentation and order entry.
Experience performing invasive procedures such as IV insertion, phlebotomy, catheterization, and tube feeding management.
Knowledge of complex medical terminology related to internal medicine, emergency medicine, pediatrics, neonatal resuscitation procedures, and neonatal ventilator management.
Background working with diverse patient populations including individuals with developmental disabilities, memory care needs, behavioral health challenges, or those requiring long-term or sub-acute care.
Understanding of Workers' Compensation law as it pertains to occupational health cases.
Additional qualifications include basic life support certification (BLS), sterile processing skills, familiarity with laboratory specimen processing, and experience managing patients under hospice & palliative medicine protocols.
