Mueller Aluminum Impacts Company and MG Machining, renowned leaders in precision engineering, is seeking a highly skilled and experienced CNC Prototype Machinist to join our dynamic team. Specializing in the production and machining of precision-engineered, close-tolerance metal impact extrusions, we take pride in delivering cutting-edge solutions across diverse markets. Position Summary

As a CNC Prototype Machinist, you will set up and operate computer numerical control machines to turn engineering designs, CAD models, and blueprints into precise new jobs or short-run test parts. This role will collaborate with design engineers to refine components for accuracy, material suitability, and overall manufacturability before full production.

Job Duties & Responsibilities

Program & Edit: Write, modify, and optimize CNC programs (G&M code) directly at the machine controller or through CAD/CAM software.
Setup & Tooling: Select cutting tools, set tool offsets, build custom fixtures, and prepare raw stock materials for complex prototype runs.
Machine Operation: Operate CNC mills, lathes, or multi-axis equipment to shape metals, plastics, and experimental alloys.
Quality Inspection: Inspect first-article and finished parts using precision tools like micrometers, calipers, and optical comparators to confirm strict tolerances.
Design Feedback: Partner with the engineering team to suggest design modifications that improve part strength, functionality, or ease of manufacturing.

Requirements & Qualifications

Experience: 3 to 5+ years of hands-on CNC setup and operation experience, with a strong focus on custom prototyping or low-volume precision machining.
Software Skills: Proficiency in CAD/CAM software workflows and controller navigation (such as Haas, Fanuc, or Mazak).
Technical Knowledge: Expert ability to read complex engineering blueprints, geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T), and material specifications.
Problem Solving: Strong mechanical aptitude and independence to troubleshoot machining errors, feeds, speeds, and tool paths on the fly.
Education: High school diploma plus technical trade school certification or an associate degree in precision machining (preferred).
