Position Summary
The Chief Estimating & Sales Support Manager is responsible for providing leadership over the company's estimating, proposal development, and sales support functions. This role ensures accurate, competitive, and compliant bids while overseeing the full proposal lifecycle from opportunity review through final submission. The position partners closely with sales, operations, finance, and executive leadership to support profitable growth, operational excellence, and strategic initiatives.
As a key member of the leadership team, the Chief Estimating & Sales Support Manager is responsible for aligning estimating operations with the company's overall business objectives while supporting the sales organization through process improvements, operational efficiency, and strategic collaboration.
The company is currently undergoing a major systems implementation and operational transformation. This role will serve as a change leader by helping implement new business systems, standardize estimating and sales support processes, improve data quality, and ensure successful adoption across the organization. Leadership, accountability, and cross-functional collaboration are critical to the success of this position.
Key Responsibilities
Managerial Leadership
- Provide strategic leadership for the Estimating and Sales Support departments.
- Develop departmental goals, key performance indicators (KPIs), and operational strategies aligned with company objectives.
- Partner with executive leadership to support growth initiatives, operational improvements, and long-term planning.
- Lead organizational change initiatives related to estimating, proposal management, and sales operations.
Estimating Leadership
- Oversee all estimating activities for structured cabling, access control, video surveillance, intrusion detection, audiovisual (AV), DAS, and related low-voltage systems.
- Review bid opportunities for scope, contractual requirements, risk, and profitability.
- Develop and review labor, material, equipment, and subcontractor estimates.
- Ensure estimating practices align with historical job costs and target profit margins.
- Standardize estimating methodologies, templates, pricing models, and documentation.
Sales Support Leadership
- Oversee proposal development and sales support functions to improve responsiveness and proposal quality.
- Collaborate with Business Development and Sales teams to ensure timely, accurate, and competitive customer proposals.
- Develop standardized proposal templates, qualification packages, and presentation materials.
- Support strategic pursuits by coordinating resources across estimating, engineering, operations, and sales.
Systems Implementation & Organizational Transformation
- Lead departmental participation in the company's enterprise system implementation and digital transformation initiatives.
- Drive adoption of new ERP, CRM, estimating, and project management platforms.
- Develop standardized workflows, reporting processes, and data governance practices.
- Identify opportunities to improve efficiency, eliminate redundancies, and automate estimating and sales support functions.
- Ensure departments remain aligned with organizational objectives throughout system implementation and future operational improvements.
Pricing & Financial Strategy
- Establish pricing strategies that balance competitiveness and profitability.
- Maintain vendor pricing, labor rates, and cost databases.
- Support value engineering efforts to improve competitiveness while protecting margins.
- Assist executive leadership with bid/no-bid decisions, financial risk assessments, and profitability analysis.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Partner with Project Management, Operations, Engineering, Finance, and Sales to ensure successful project transitions.
- Participate in post-award reviews and job cost analysis to improve estimating accuracy.
- Support change order pricing and contract revisions throughout project execution.
Team Leadership
- Recruit, mentor, develop, and lead estimators and sales support personnel.
- Establish performance expectations and accountability standards.
- Foster collaboration, continuous improvement, and professional development.
- Conduct performance evaluations and succession planning.
Compliance & Quality
- Ensure estimates and proposals comply with NEC, NFPA, AHJ requirements, customer specifications, and contractual obligations.
- Maintain organized estimating records, proposal documentation, and historical cost databases.
- Promote quality assurance and continuous improvement throughout the estimating process.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in construction management, Engineering, Business Administration, or a related field preferred; equivalent experience considered.
- 7–10+ years of progressive leadership experience in estimating within the low-voltage, electrical, or technology systems industry.
- Proven success leading estimating teams and supporting sales organizations.
- Experience leading organizational change, process improvements, or enterprise system implementations is highly desirable.
- Strong understanding of commercial estimating, labor productivity, project costing, and financial analysis.
- Experience with estimating software and ERP platforms such as Accubid, ConEst, Bluebeam, SimPro, Excel, or similar systems.

Work Environment & Expectations
- Onsite – Lutz/Tampa Area (Preferred): The ideal candidate will be based in the Lutz/Tampa area and work primarily from headquarters.
- Florida-Based (Acceptable): Candidates located elsewhere in Florida may be considered, with regular in-person presence at headquarters as needed.
- Remote (Considered): A remote arrangement may be considered for the right candidate, with monthly visits to headquarters and frequent collaboration with executive leadership, sales, operations, and project management.
- Travel: Occasional travel will be required for customer meetings, project reviews, leadership meetings, training, and system implementation activities.
- Fast-paced environment supporting multiple concurrent bids, strategic initiatives, and operational priorities.
Compensation & Benefits
- Salary: $120,000–$160,000 DOE
