General Manager – Medical Spa | Sales & Operations
Happel Medical Spa | McMurray, PA
Happel Medical Spa is seeking an experienced General Manager to lead the day-to-day operations and growth of our medical aesthetics practice.
This is a unique hybrid position combining two equally important roles: leading the daily operation of the medical spa and serving as the practice's primary new-client sales consultant.
We are looking for someone who can confidently lead a team, drive sales, improve performance, build client relationships, and grow revenue. At least 3+ years of experience in the medical spa, aesthetics, or a closely related industry is required.
Practice Management & Growth
- Take ownership of daily med spa operations and serve as the primary leader for our team.
- Directly manage existing and future staff, including our esthetician/front desk team member, laser RN, and future nurse injector.
- Lead daily morning huddles and establish monthly individual and practice-wide goals and KPIs.
- Coach staff on sales, rebooking, packages, memberships, retail skincare, cross-selling, and increasing value per guest.
- Help develop and implement a performance-based compensation structure that rewards team members for contributing to practice growth.
- Track revenue, provider productivity, client retention, rebooking, sales performance, and other key business metrics.
- Identify opportunities to improve operations, profitability, client experience, and revenue.
- Recruit, interview, and help hire an experienced nurse injector capable of joining a turnkey practice and growing our injectable services.
- Develop onboarding, goals, KPIs, and performance expectations for new hires.
- Take ownership of practice marketing and new-client growth, either through direct involvement or by identifying, coordinating with, and managing qualified outside marketing partners.
- Help develop and oversee digital marketing strategies including Meta/Facebook/Instagram, Google Ads, social media, promotions, and other client-acquisition initiatives.
- Ensure the practice maintains an active and consistent social media presence and evaluate marketing performance based on leads, conversions, client acquisition, and return on investment.
- Monitor and help improve the practice's local search visibility and search engine optimization (SEO), including Google rankings, website performance, and online presence. Identify, evaluate, and coordinate with qualified outside marketing and SEO professionals when specialized expertise is needed.
- Monitor the performance of outside marketing partners and ensure marketing expenditures are producing measurable results for the practice.
New Client Consultations & Sales
Sales and consultation performance are a major component of this position.
The General Manager will serve as our primary “Get to Know You” consultant for new clients. Rather than focusing only on the service that initially brought a client through the door, your role will be to understand the client's broader aesthetic goals and help develop a customized, long-term treatment plan.
Responsibilities include:
- Conduct in-depth consultations with new clients to understand their aesthetic concerns, goals, priorities, and interests.
- Build customized treatment programs incorporating appropriate services, packages, memberships, and professional skincare.
- Educate clients about treatment options and help them understand how different services can work together to achieve their goals.
- Confidently discuss treatment pricing, packages, memberships, and program options.
- Ask for the sale in a professional, consultative, and client-centered manner.
- Identify appropriate opportunities to cross-sell additional services based on each client's individual goals.
- Recommend professional skincare products and customized home-care regimens to complement in-office treatments.
- Follow up with prospective clients who do not purchase during their initial consultation.
- Build long-term client relationships that encourage retention, rebooking, referrals, and continued treatment.
- Track and continually improve key sales metrics including consultation closing ratio, average revenue per consultation, customized treatment program revenue, retail sales, membership enrollment, retention, and referrals.
- Coach the broader team on consultative selling, treatment recommendations, retail sales, and creating a consistent client experience.
Who We're Looking For
Our ideal candidate has 3+ years of experience in the medical spa, aesthetics, or a related industry, with demonstrated management and sales experience and an understanding of what makes a successful aesthetics practice operate.
Strong consultative sales skills are essential for this position. You should be comfortable building rapport quickly, identifying client needs, presenting higher-value treatment programs, discussing pricing, addressing hesitation, and confidently asking for the sale without creating a high-pressure experience.
You should also have strong business acumen and the ability to work effectively with ownership, employees, consultants, vendors, marketing partners, and other key stakeholders.
You should be comfortable managing people, analyzing numbers, recruiting talent, holding employees accountable, conducting consultations, closing sales, and independently solving day-to-day business problems.
Experience with med spa KPIs, performance-based compensation, nurse injectors, aesthetic treatment sales, memberships, packages, skincare retail, marketing, SEO, and digital client acquisition is highly valued.
Most importantly, we're looking for an operator and growth leader, not simply an office manager. We want someone who can confidently take ownership of both the operation of the practice and the client sales experience.
Intensive Training & Ongoing Support
You will not be expected to figure everything out on your own.
The General Manager will begin with an intensive onboarding and development program through an established medical spa consulting firm. You will have access to a comprehensive online med spa business training platform designed to walk you through the systems, strategies, sales processes, and operational practices involved in successfully running and growing a medical spa.
During the initial training period, you will also participate in weekly one-on-one meetings with an experienced med spa business consultant who can answer questions, review progress, troubleshoot challenges, and guide you through implementation step by step.
Following the initial onboarding period, you will continue to receive ongoing access to the training platform and regular one-on-one consulting support as you transition into independent management of the practice.
Compensation
$30/hour guaranteed base + performance-based bonuses
At a typical 38-hour workweek, base compensation is approximately $59,000 annually, with the opportunity to earn up to approximately $66,000 in total annual compensation when performance goals are consistently achieved.
The compensation structure is designed to reward results. Performance-based bonuses are tied to achievement of agreed-upon individual and practice-wide KPIs, allowing strong performance to directly increase your earning potential.
Benefits & Perks
- Performance-based bonus opportunities tied to practice growth and achievement of agreed-upon KPIs.
- Extensive med spa management and sales training and mentorship, including an intensive onboarding period, comprehensive online training platform, and ongoing one-on-one access to an experienced med spa business consultant.
- $750 annual professional development allowance for approved continuing education, certifications, courses, and professional development.
- One complimentary eligible treatment per month, subject to availability and practice guidelines.
- At-cost employee pricing on eligible professional skincare products and select services.
- Opportunities for career advancement and compensation growth as the practice expands.
- A supportive, team-oriented culture that recognizes and rewards exceptional performance.
If you're an experienced medical spa professional who loves leadership, consultative sales, aesthetics, business growth, and building high-performing teams, we'd love to hear from you.
