Full Job Description

Job Title: Community Organizer Manager

FLSA: Full-time, Non-Exempt

Reports to: Chief Operations Officer

Casa San Jose is seeking a passionate, strategic Community Organizer Manager to lead grassroots organizing efforts, deepen community relationships, and build collective power in immigrant and Latino communities. The manager will supervise a team of community organizers and oversee outreach, advocacy, and initiatives aligned with Casa San Jose’s mission to empower and mobilize our communities for systemic change.

This role requires a dynamic leader who excels in organizing, team management, and community engagement, and is comfortable navigating both grassroots settings and institutional partnerships. The ideal candidate will have strong administrative skills and experience driving campaigns that influence policy and build community power.

Key Responsibilities

Lead, design, and evaluate civic engagement and issue-based campaigns with clear goals, timelines, and outcomes.
Identify emerging community issues and propose responsive strategies.
Guide the integration of advocacy and organizing across organizational programs.
Directly supervise, support, and evaluate a team of community organizers.
Conduct regular 1:1s, team meetings, and performance check-ins.
Provide coaching, mentorship, and professional development opportunities to staff.
Lead recruitment, onboarding, and training of new organizing staff and volunteers.
Support and maintain trust-based relationships with community members, leaders, and partner organizations.
Identify and support the development of grassroots leaders through training, mentorship, and engagement opportunities.
Coordinate and facilitate workshops, political education sessions.
Represent Casa San Jose in local and regional coalitions, advocacy spaces, and community forums.
Collaborate with partner organizations to build unified strategies and campaigns.
Foster cross-sector partnerships to advance shared goals.
Maintain accurate records of activities, outreach, and campaign participation.
Oversee data entry, tracking, and reporting of organizing outcomes using database programs.
Ensure compliance with internal policies, grant requirements, and reporting deadlines.
Support grant writing, reporting, and fundraising efforts by providing data, narratives, and outcomes.
Other responsibilities as assigned.

Education and Experience:

Minimum 2 years of experience in community organizing, campaign work, or civic engagement.
At least 1 year in a supervisory or managerial role with staff oversight.
Demonstrated commitment to social justice, immigrant rights, and community-led change.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Familiarity with digital organizing tools (e.g., VAN, NationBuilder, etc.) is a plus.
Flexible schedule with ability to work evenings/weekends as needed.
Bilingual (English/Spanish)

Skills and Competencies:

Strong leadership, management, and organization.
Proven ability to manage multiple projects, meet deadlines, and adapt to changing priorities.
Experience with program evaluation and reporting.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office and data tracking tools (e.g., Excel, Salesforce, or similar CRM platforms).
Bilingual or multilingual skills (English and Spanish) are a plus.
Demonstrate strong time management and organizational skills
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and being able to administrate and prioritize multiple, often competing, priorities
Knowledgeable about available resources for Latino immigrants

Working Conditions:

Some evening and weekend hours may be required.
Local travel to program sites and partner locations.
While performing the duties this job requires, the employee is regularly required to sit, to talk, to hear. The employee is occasionally required to stand, walk and reach with hands and arms. Employees may occasionally lift and/or move objects of up to 20 pounds.
