Full Job Description

Sr. Team Lead – Hardscape

Location: Honeoye Falls, NY (crews start from here; field-based at client job sites)

Travel: Local and regional travel to job sites; company driving as needed. Crews are home each night.

Schedule: Shifts begin at 7:00 AM Monday – Friday; candidates must be able to work overtime as needed. No Saturday work is required.

Salary: $32.00–$34.00/hour depending on experience; candidates with certain certifications or current CDL A or B licenses may be eligible for additional compensation.

Education: High school diploma or GED preferred

Experience: 10 years in the industry overall, with 5-6 years leading teams. Large-scale hardscape install experience is required, including natural boulders, dry stack walls, Techo-Bloc walls, light masonry, and paver or bluestone patios. Equipment experience (skid steers, mini excavators), and the ability to read construction drawings and renderings is required. Valid driver's license is required; ability to comply with DOT regulations and pass a DOT physical is required.

Role Description

The Hardscape Team Lead leads a high-performing installation crew that consistently delivers safe, profitable, and exceptional hardscape projects. This role owns daily execution by developing people, maintaining quality standards, controlling production, protecting company assets, and creating an outstanding client experience — all while living out JLC's Core Values.

Responsibilities

Oversee daily site operations, keep jobs on track, and address site challenges — from elevation changes to undisclosed conditions — while coordinating timelines with production managers.
Review plans with company designers and production managers, flag what's missing, and plan workflow so equipment, materials, and tools are ready before work begins.
Allocate materials onsite and in Aspire and advise on delivery timelines.
Coach, train, and hold crew members accountable for performance, production, safety, and behavior.
Oversee machines and equipment onsite, coordinating with Facilities and Logistics on the timely delivery of what's needed.
Create and review job punch lists, perform pre- and post-job inspections, and correct deficiencies before leaving the site.
Serve as the onsite point of contact for clients and property managers, escalating issues before they become problems.
Ensure compliance with company safety standards, including same-day reporting of incidents or near misses.

Qualifications

Required:

5+ years installing hardscapes, including large-scale installs and work with natural boulders, dry stack walls, manufactured block walls, light masonry, and paver or bluestone patios
2+ years leading a crew
Experience reading construction drawings and renderings
Understanding of grading and drainage
Experience operating skid steers, mini excavators, and compact equipment
Strong communication and people skills, with the ability to break larger projects into manageable steps
Valid driver's license is required; ability to comply with DOT regulations and pass a DOT physical is also required
OSHA training preferred.
CDL A or B is a plus, candidates with a CDL may be eligible for additional compensation.

ICPI Concrete Paver Installer certification
NCMA Segmental Retaining Wall Installer certification
