The Vice President of IT Operations will be a critical owner of the execution of a portfolio of enterprise-scale programs: VMware-to-Azure cloud migration, a wide Wi-Fi infrastructure overhaul, AIOps-driven observability, NOC build-out, and M&A integration at pace.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
VMware-to-Azure Cloud Migration (Active Program)
- Own end-to-end execution of VMware-to-Azure migration; the highest-priority infrastructure program in the 2025-2026 technology roadmap.
- Lead workload assessment, wave planning, dependency mapping, and cutover sequencing across all 150+ property environments, minimizing downtime and business disruption.
- Define and enforce Azure landing zone standards; identity, networking, segmentation, policy guardrails, and logging; to ensure a secure, scalable post-migration architecture.
- Build and maintain infrastructure-as-code (IaC) templates for repeatable, compliant environment provisioning in the target Azure state.
- Implement Azure security and compliance controls (Defender for Cloud, RBAC, policy frameworks) in partnership with the VP Cybersecurity & IT Compliance.
- Drive FinOps discipline: capacity planning, reserved instance strategy, cost variance tracking, and cloud spend optimization post-migration.
- Deliver executive-level migration status reporting with clear milestones, risk flags, and financial accountability.
Wi-Fi Infrastructure Roadmap (Active Program)
- Lead execution of enterprise-wide Wi-Fi technology roadmap; standardizing wireless infrastructure across all properties to deliver consistent, high-quality member and operational connectivity.
- Define and enforce Wi-Fi architecture standards: RF design, SSID segmentation (member, operational, IoT), authentication frameworks, and capacity thresholds per property type.
- Own the Wi-Fi lifecycle program: hardware standardization (Cisco Meraki), firmware governance, access point lifecycle, and vendor SLA management.
- Integrate Wi-Fi telemetry into the enterprise observability platform, enabling per-property client density, throughput, and incident visibility in real time.
- Partner with operations leadership to align Wi-Fi performance to member experience SLAs and revenue-generating services (e.g., software platforms, payment systems, digital amenities).
- Lead technology onboarding of newly acquired properties into the standard Wi-Fi framework within defined M&A integration timelines.
Network Operations Center (NOC); Build & Operations
- Design, build, and operate centralized NOC function; establishing the monitoring, alerting, escalation, and incident management capabilities required to support 150+ geographically distributed properties at enterprise scale.
- Define NOC operating model: staffing structure, shift coverage, tier escalation paths, runbooks, and on-call governance.
- Implement and own the NOC tooling stack; integrating network, infrastructure, cloud, and endpoint monitoring into a unified operational console (target: single-pane-of-glass visibility).
- Establish and enforce NOC SLAs: first-response time, MTTD, MTTR, escalation thresholds, and incident classification standards.
- Drive continuous improvement through post-incident reviews, trend analysis, and proactive problem management; reducing repeat incidents and mean time between failures (MTBF).
- Build NOC capabilities to support after-hours operations, seasonality spikes, and M&A cutover events.
Observability & Performance Analytics
- Own enterprise observability end-to-end: network, infrastructure, cloud, Wi-Fi, endpoint, and user experience; encompassing telemetry, logging, tracing, and alerting across all layers.
- Implement a unified observability platform (e.g., Datadog, Azure Monitor, or equivalent) capable of correlating signals across on-premises, Azure, and field environments.
- Define and maintain a rigorous KPI and SLI framework; uptime by property, MTTD/MTTR by incident class, network availability, Wi-Fi client health, Azure workload performance; with real-time executive dashboards and trend reporting.
- Drive AIOps adoption: predictive alerting, anomaly detection, automated remediation workflows, and intelligent capacity management to reduce reactive operations and increase efficiency.
- Establish performance baselines per property type and tier; enabling data-driven SLA conversations with key stake holders
- Produce monthly operational health reports for the CTO and CCO; translating telemetry into business impact metrics (availability, member experience, revenue continuity).
Network & Infrastructure Operations
- Architect, manage, and continuously optimize enterprise-wide network infrastructure across all sites; ensuring consistent performance, reliability, and security.
- Own lifecycle management of Palo Alto Networks security platforms (NGFW, Panorama), Cisco Meraki SD-WAN and switching infrastructure, and enterprise Wi-Fi; including configuration baselines, change management protocols, and firmware governance.
- Lead infrastructure assessment and technology onboarding for all newly acquired properties, ensuring rapid integration aligned with company standards.
High Availability, Disaster Recovery & Incident Management
- Design and maintain enterprise-grade high-availability (HA) architectures meeting defined uptime SLAs across all critical systems.
- Own the enterprise Disaster Recovery and Business Continuity program; documented runbooks, validated RTO/RPO objectives, and annual tabletop exercises.
- Lead incident response planning and execution for major IT events, coordinating cross-functional teams and vendors to achieve rapid resolution and minimal business impact.
Microsoft Ecosystem & Workplace Technology
- Manage the full Microsoft 365 stack: Entra ID, Intune, Teams, Defender, and associated enterprise productivity and security platforms.
- Oversee enterprise endpoint lifecycle (procurement, configuration, deployment, decommissioning) across corporate and field locations; standardizing device management and optimizing licensing spend.
- Ensure guest and operational connectivity delivers a consistent, high-quality member experience across all properties.
Mergers & Acquisitions Technology Integration
- Serve as the operational technology lead for all M&A activities; conducting pre-acquisition infrastructure assessments and executing post-close onboarding with speed and discipline.
- Maintain a repeatable, scalable M&A technology integration playbook: network, Wi-Fi, cloud, NOC onboarding, and monitoring enrollment; within defined integration timelines.
Enterprise Technology Governance & Budget
- Develop and execute a multi-year technology operations roadmap aligned to growth, M&A pace, and operational scale; with clear ROI accountability.
- Establish enterprise system governance: decision rights, operating cadence, change management, and escalation paths.
- Own the IT operations budget; forecasting, variance management, application licensing, and tool rationalization.
- Run periodic control reviews, remediate gaps, and institutionalize process-dependent operations that reduce key-person risk and ensure audit readiness.
Team & Vendor Leadership
- Lead and develop a high-performing IT operations organization; setting clear expectations, operating rhythms, and accountability structures.
- Build organizational structure for scale: defined roles, process ownership, succession pathways, and documentation standards.
- Manage a portfolio of vendors, MSPs, consultants, and offshore partners; contract negotiations, scoped deliverables, SLA governance, and performance accountability.
Technical and Physical Requirements
- 12+ years of progressive IT infrastructure and operations leadership, with 5+ years in a senior leadership role managing geographically distributed environments (multi unti locations strongly preferred).
- Proven, hands-on experience leading VMware-to-cloud migrations at enterprise scale; workload assessment, wave planning, cutover execution, and Azure landing zone design.
- Experience in critical infrastructure, hospitality, retail, or outdoor recreation with distributed property portfolios.
- Familiarity with AIOps platforms and intelligent automation in infrastructure management.
