Position Summary
The Senior Director of Supply Chain , is responsible for developing and executing the company's global supply chain strategy to ensure operational excellence, customer satisfaction, cost competitiveness, and business growth.
The Director leads and develops high-performing global operational teams, including strategic sourcing, supplier selection and development, procurement, logistics related to purchasing activities, warehousing, and distribution, and international sites, to support a complex network of suppliers, manufacturing partners, distribution centers, and customers.
Key accountabilities of this position include driving supplier performance, enhancing supply chain resilience while managing risks, improving cost and customer service metrics, driving cross-functional collaboration, and implementing best-in-class systems, processes, operating efficiency, and technologies to strengthen the organization's global competitive position.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership
- Develop and execute a global supply chain strategy aligned with corporate objectives.
- Lead supply chain transformation initiatives to improve scalability, efficiency, responsiveness, and customer service.
- Establish and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to drive operational excellence.
- Identify and mitigate supply chain risks, including geopolitical, regulatory, supplier, and logistics-related disruptions.
- Drive continuous improvement through Lean, Six Sigma, and best-practice methodologies.
Procurement & Supplier Management
- Lead global sourcing and procurement strategies to ensure quality, cost, and delivery objectives are achieved.
- Develop strategic supplier partnerships and oversee supplier performance management programs.
- Negotiate major supply agreements and contracts.
- Identify cost reduction opportunities while maintaining quality and service standards.
- Ensure supplier compliance with quality, regulatory, and ethical sourcing requirements.
- Oversee supplier selection, qualification, contract negotiations, and performance management with a focus on ISO9001 compliance and scorecard.
- Collaborate with Engineering, Program Management, and Quality to define critical path items. Manage lead-time-sensitive components and ensure timely product launches.
- Lead continues improvement initiatives in sourcing, planning, and logistics through lean principles, Six Sigma methodology, and value stream mapping.
- Evaluate and implement sustainable sourcing practices aligned with corporate ESG goals.
- Partner with Finance to develop supply chain budgets, cost-saving initiatives, and CAPEX planning.
- Manage and direct the activities of Supplier Quality Representatives to ensure supplier compliance with aerospace quality standards (current ISO 9001 and possibly future AS9100), support incoming inspections, and drive root cause and corrective action initiatives.
Logistics & Distribution
- Direct global logistics, transportation, warehousing, and distribution operations.
- Optimize distribution networks and freight strategies to improve service and reduce costs.
- Ensure compliance with international trade regulations, customs requirements, and import/export controls.
Operations & Cross-Functional Leadership
- Collaborate with suppliers, engineering, quality, and commercial teams to ensure supply chain alignment with customer requirements.
- Support new product introductions, capacity planning, and business expansion initiatives.
- Lead global teams and develop organizational capabilities through coaching, mentoring, and succession planning.
- Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
- Oversee and manage the entire purchasing department for AGSE Ground Support Unit and a business unit.
Possible Future Participation in Inventory Management (Not a part of duties at present) (no decision has been made on this topic, but the candidate needs to consider that Inventory oversight will be undertaken under this role).
- Be prepared to lead inventory management for AGSE Ground Support and Westmont in SFS and related international.
- Monitor and manage global inventory levels (including consignment and VMI) to balance availability, working capital, and customer demands.
Qualifications
Education
- Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Operations, Business, Engineering, or related field required.
- MBA or advanced degree preferred.
- Professional certifications such as APICS/ASCM, CPSM, CSCP, or Lean Six Sigma preferred.
- Experience and Other Requirements
- 15+ years of progressive leadership experience in global supply chain, procurement, and operations management.
- 8+ years of demonstrated success leading and managing global sourcing, procurement, and supplier management, and logistics teams supplying highly engineered products, with full responsibility for organizational performance, strategic execution, supplier network management, distribution, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Proven track record of driving supply chain transformation initiatives that improve operational performance, profitability, scalability, and business growth.
- Extensive experience leading global, cross-functional teams and managing multi-site operations across diverse geographic regions with flexibility to support meetings, communications, and business activities outside of standard working hours as required.
- Ability to travel internationally 5 – 7 weeks annually to visit global suppliers and represent the company in a professional manner to perform responsibilities listed above. Additional light travel of 2-3 weeks domestically will also be required. Total travel requirements up to 20%.
- Strong background in developing strategic supplier partnerships, optimizing supply networks, and mitigating supply chain risks in dynamic market environments.
- Demonstrated ability to lead organizational changes, implement continuous improvement initiatives, and deliver measurable results in cost, quality, delivery, and customer satisfaction.
JOB COMPENSATION AND RELATED
Job Type: Full-Time Employment
Pay: Base Salary Range $200,000-$225,000 per year, discretionary bonus up to 25% of base. Maximum Total Compensation, including a discretionary bonus, can be as high as $281,250.
This role is considered exempt and a Santa Fe Springs, CA “ONSITE” role . Compensation range is determined based on your educational background, certifications, and professional experience.
