Full Job Description

A busy Japanese restaurant in the 33160 area (Sunny Isles Beach / North Miami Beach/Aventura) is looking for a Sushi Chef to assist our head sushi chef. If you take pride in clean cuts, well-seasoned rice, and rolls that look as good as they taste, we want to meet you.

You'll be the face of the sushi bar — preparing rolls, nigiri, and sashimi to a consistent standard, handling fresh fish from whole to plate, and keeping your station spotless during high-volume services.

What You'll Do

Prepare sushi rolls, nigiri, sashimi, and specialty rolls with speed and consistency
Break down, fillet, and portion whole fish (salmon, tuna, and more) with proper yield and minimal waste
Cook and season sushi rice and complete daily prep for your station
Monitor fish freshness and quality; label, rotate (FIFO), and store product correctly
Keep the sushi bar clean and organized in full compliance with health and food safety regulations
Interact with guests at the sushi bar in a friendly, professional way

What We're Looking For

Required:

2+ years of experience as a sushi chef
Strong knife skills: fish butchering, precise cuts for nigiri and sashimi
Solid knowledge of safe raw-fish handling and food safety practices
Availability to work nights, weekends, and holidays
Authorization to work in the United States

Nice to have:

Florida Food Handler certification (e.g., SafeStaff)
Experience in a high-volume restaurant
English and/or Spanish

Schedule & Job Type

Full-time or part-time — we're flexible for the right person
Evening, weekend, and holiday shifts required

Pay: $25.00 - $26.00 per hour
