Full Job Description

Job Overview

We are seeking a driven and relationship-oriented Rentals Manager to oversee the rental of Lawrence Family Jewish Community Center (LFJCC) facilities to external individuals and organizations. This is a highly visible role that sits at the intersection of sales, event operations, and community engagement, ideal for someone equally motivated by revenue goals and relationship building. Reporting to the Sr. Director of Community Engagement and Partnerships, the Rentals Manager serves as the primary point of contact and customer service liaison from initial inquiry through event execution, managing all logistical and operational aspects of each rental engagement across the LFJCC campus, including the Garfield Theatre.

Responsibilities

Support an annual planning process for ongoing and episodic facility rentals, ensuring the rental program is integrated into the broader LFJCC campus calendar.
Manage the rentals calendar with accuracy and foresight, coordinating with internal program managers to avoid conflicts with LFJCC programming.
Communicate calendar changes and additions in a timely manner so the LFJCC can appropriately prepare for third-party events.
Serve as the day-of liaison for all rental events, remaining on-site or on-call to troubleshoot logistics in real time, and act as House Manager for events across campus, including the Garfield Theatre, when needed.
Serve as the internal hub of communication for rental activity, collaborating with Marketing, Guest Services, Facilities, and other teams on parking, security, signage, and attendee communications.
Develop and maintain strong relationships with external vendors and event planners to fulfill event-specific needs quickly and professionally.
Conduct thorough post-event follow-up with clients and internal program managers, capturing feedback and identifying opportunities for improvement or future bookings.
Represent the LFJCC at community events, industry gatherings, and networking opportunities as an ambassador for the campus and its rental offerings.
Draft, negotiate, and execute rental contracts with CEO approval, ensuring expectations and terms are clearly understood before signatures are received.
Maintain organized, audit-ready records of all contracts, correspondence, and rental documentation.
Track and report on revenue expectations and actuals, keeping leadership informed of trends and gaps in the rental pipeline.
Provide timely monthly documentation to Finance covering billing, Jacobs Fund allocations, and City of San Diego payment terms.
Evaluate rental pricing in collaboration with LFJCC leadership to keep the program competitive while meeting revenue goals.
Proactively identify and solicit new rental clients through direct outreach, targeted marketing, and community relationship building.
Develop strategies to attract new clients and expand the LFJCC's visibility as one of San Diego's premier event venues, prioritizing long-term relationships over one-time bookings.
Collaborate with Marketing on promotional materials, digital campaigns, and content to drive inbound rental interest.
Work with the Community Engagement team to help cultivate rental clients into deeper, ongoing community partnerships.

Requirements

Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent work experience required.
Minimum three years of experience in rentals, event booking, venue management, or a related field, with a demonstrated ability to manage multiple client relationships and meet revenue goals.
Experience in a nonprofit, cultural institution, or community organization preferred.
Strong sales and business development instincts with a proven track record of building client relationships.
Excellent organizational and administrative skills, able to manage competing priorities and deadlines.
Strong collaboration skills across internal departments and with external clients and vendors.
Ability to work independently while maintaining a proactive, goal-driven approach.
Familiarity with theatrical or event production and technical equipment preferred.
Experience with venue management, ticketing, or CRM platforms is a plus; familiarity with Tessitura or similar systems preferred.
Comfortable working with diverse populations and a wide range of client needs.
Professional demeanor with strong written and verbal communication skills across all channels.
Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required by event scheduling.
Current valid driver's license and reliable transportation required.
CPR/AED/First Aid Certified within 6 months of being hired.
Ability to pass a Federal, State, and Live Scan background check.
