Full Job Description

Practice Type: General Practice Medicine; Location: Plano, TX (in-office); Job Type: Full-Time (in-office initially; remote work considered after a 3-month evaluation period); Compensation: $52,000–$60,000/year (DOE), approx. $25–$30/hour — adjusted above the general Plano-area median ($44K–$51K) to reflect the bachelor's degree and 3–5 years' experience requirement

About the Role

We are seeking a detail-oriented Medical Billing Clerk to join our Plano practice and support billing operations for our general practice medicine services.

Responsibilities

Prepare, review, and submit insurance claims (Medicare, Medicaid, and commercial payers) for general practice office visits
Verify patient insurance eligibility and benefits prior to services rendered
Post payments, adjustments, and denials accurately in the billing system
Follow up on unpaid or denied claims, resubmit corrected claims as needed, and manage accounts receivable
Communicate with patients regarding billing questions, statements, and payment plans
Coordinate with front-office and clinical staff to ensure accurate coding and documentation
Maintain compliance with HIPAA and payer billing requirements

Qualifications

Undergraduate (bachelor's) degree required
3–5 years of medical billing experience required (general practice or primary care billing experience preferred)
Working knowledge of CPT, ICD-10, and HCPCS coding
Experience with EHR/practice management and billing software (e.g., athenahealth, eClinicalWorks, Kareo, or similar)
Familiarity with Medicare, Medicaid, and commercial insurance billing rules
CPB (Certified Professional Biller) certification a plus, but not required
Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and clear communication with patients and staff

Work Arrangement

This position begins fully in-office at our Plano location. After a 3-month evaluation period, candidates in good standing will be considered for a remote or hybrid billing arrangement.

Pay: $25.00 - $30.00 per hour
