Full Job Description

Yankee Home is seeking a hands-on Assistant Controller / Accounting Manager to oversee day-to-day accounting operations, ensure accurate financial records, strengthen internal controls, and support timely financial reporting. This role bridges transactional accounting and financial management while partnering with the Director of Finance & IT and company leadership. The position supervises accounting support staff and provides limited office management for the Wrentham, MA office.

Key Responsibilities

Execute daily accounting operations including accounts payable, cash receipts, general ledger activity, reconciliations, and month-end close processes.
Prepare accurate monthly financial statements and supporting schedules for management review.
Review and approve journal entries, account reconciliations, and supporting documentation.
Maintain strong internal controls, segregation of duties, and complete audit trails.
Investigate and resolve reconciliation discrepancies promptly; escalate unresolved issues.
Support weekly cash reporting and short-term cash flow forecasting.
Maintain accurate job costing and assist with margin analysis.
Prepare sales commissions, bonuses, accruals, and prepaid schedules.
Coordinate external audit requests and year-end support.
Maintain fixed asset schedules and balance sheet reconciliations.
Identify accounting process improvements and automation opportunities.
Support supervision and coaching of accounting staff, training, and performance management.

Wrentham Office Management

· Coordinate office supplies and facility needs.

· Serve as primary administrative contact for office operations.

· Coordinate visitors, deliveries, and office equipment issues.

· Support onboarding logistics and maintain an organized office environment.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or related field preferred, or equivalent experience.
3-5+ years progressive accounting experience; construction or home improvement preferred.
Basic / introductory understanding of GAAP, reconciliations, controls, and month-end close process.
Experience with QuickBooks and Microsoft Excel.
High integrity, attention to detail, listening, and sound judgment.

Success Measures

Support and eventually lead accurate and timely monthly close.
Balance sheet accounts reconciled monthly with supporting documentation.
No unresolved reconciling items without documented and communicated action plans.
Positive audit results and strong internal control compliance.
Timely vendor payments and accurate financial reporting.

Pay: $85,000.00 - $105,000.00 per year
