POSITION SUMMARY:
The NY Production Assistant will report to the Shop Coordinator, Operations Manager, Pre-Production Creative Specialist, and Co-Owners of the company. They will work closely with our paint, shop, creative, and project management teams. This person is responsible for maintaining the overall integrity and quality of preproduction and production processes and projects as well as delivering them on-time, if not early. The Production Assistant provides support and coordination of shop/warehouse projects and paint production preparation work activity taking place within the Overall Murals paint shop as well as in the field at various company job sites in NYC.
The person we seek is communicative, handy, crafty, thrives under pressure, has a logical mind set, love for organization, excellent at multitasking, tech savvy, has a passion for the mural arts industry and is willing to learn new things. The Production Assistant is open to doing everything from low level to high level tasks.

ADDITIONAL DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Technical - Experience with Slack, Microsoft Office Suite, Google Suite, emailing capabilities and business systems
- Adobe Creative Suite, Graphic Design knowledge a plus
- Painting and/or mural painting experience
- Arts related education
- Construction Skills - Experience in light carpentry, construction, and use of hand & power tools
- Trello or other Project Management Platform knowledge a plus
RESPONSIBILITIES:
This position is responsible for supporting and managing the effective, on-time completion of daily activities required for the shop, in accordance with the project plan schedule and the company's policies and practices in a professional, productive and positive manner. The Production Assistant will spend a majority of their time in the shop, however, since most of our work is outdoors, he or she may be required to spend time in the field from time to time. This person will support conditions of each project from start to finish to ensure that projects are completed on-time and on-budget.
Production Support - They will work closely with the various company departments (operations, creative, pre-production, shop, ownership) and provide support to manage aspects of multiple painting projects simultaneously. This person will be calm under pressure and able to work with all kinds of personalities, in a deadline driven environment.
1. Manage in-shop production projects with the Pre-Production Creative Specialist, the Project Management and Operations Team. This includes managing the flows, delegation, and providing statuses for pre-production processes such as burning patterns, printing and mounting artwork, loading and dropping off materials, packing and shipping materials, and paint mixing.
2. Work with team members to manage workflow of the shop work areas and shop projects.
3. Keep track of production projects, who is in the shop and their tasks for the week and following week/s.
4. Communicate and plan with the Operations Manager as required. They will be the main POC to communicate (both verbally and digitally) daily and frequently with Operations and Management on any updates, changes and statuses to help manage the workflow within the shop as needed with the operations team, pre-production team and ownership.
5. Collaborate with other departments and/or shops to execute plans, unique paint strategies, and other client requirements (research and development with owners or the Creative Pre-Production Specialist).
6. Schedule, prepare, pack, load and ship the materials for ongoing and upcoming projects.
7. Update shop whiteboard, meeting decksand other written presentation materials with project progress and tasks.
8. Organize and archive outgoing and incoming shelves according to schedule and checklists.
9. Be knowledgeable of and facilitate any shipping and receiving. Ensure any outgoing packages are shipped out on time and efficiently for projects.
10. Manage, develop and update any checklists for pre-production / production.
11. Be responsible for in-field requests for additional materials and communicate with the team/s and Shop Team when and how materials are being sent.
12. Update custom wall checklists.
13. Train new apprentices and team members on shop practices, pre-production processes and any other procedures as required
14. Manage Shop Slack and Trello for team, project and shop management as required.
15. Supporting the paint and production teams where and when needed
Shop Maintenance/Upgrading - The Production Assistant will be responsible for the upkeep and development of the shop and office, maintaining and organizing them. Duties include:
1. Notify Shop Coordinator and operations of any inventory needs for specific art works and assist in ordering supplies as needed
2. Maintain and organize inventory
3. Help keep all areas of the shop clean and organized
4. Innovate, research and execute ideas to improve efficiency and processes for mural pre-production and production in the shop or office
5. Work with ownership and other team members to help develop and maintain new areas of the shop/s
6. Work with shop and owners to manage pre-production stations, calibrate, maintain and keep them up to date
7. Manage all access keys, OM Truck keys and know who has them at all times
9. Fill in for Shop Coordinator, Shop Assistant as required
10. Other duties as assigned. Perform any tasks required by the Shop Coordinator, Operations and Owner as related to the shop and production
TERMS & COMPENSATION:
Salary and hours: Starts at $27 per hour. The position is full-time and eligible for benefits after 90 days of full-time status.
Flexibility required - This is a demanding position. The schedule will typically be 8am-5pm or 9am-6pm Monday-Friday with occasional weekend availability required.
WORK CONDITIONS: (include but not limited to)
Required to occasionally work in high, precarious places using scaffolding, ladders, Scissor lifts or boom lifts or chairs. Occasionally works near moving mechanical parts. Occasionally exposed to wet, and or humid conditions, extreme heat, vibration and inclement weather. Noise level in the work environment may be loud. The environment here is professional, fast-paced, fun, family-style and creative surrounded by a group of unique artists.
