Job Summary
We are seeking a compassionate and energetic Trauma Informed Care Peer Navigator to join our dedicated team. In this vital role, you will serve as a trusted guide and advocate for individuals navigating behavioral health challenges, trauma histories, and recovery journeys. Your lived experience combined with your commitment to empowering others will help foster a safe, supportive environment where clients feel understood and motivated to pursue their wellness goals. This paid position offers an opportunity to make a meaningful impact by connecting individuals to essential resources, providing peer support, and promoting resilience through trauma-informed practices.

Responsibilities

Build trusting relationships with clients by sharing your lived experience and demonstrating empathy, understanding, and respect.
Assist clients in identifying their needs and developing personalized recovery plans aligned with trauma-informed care principles.
Provide crisis intervention and crisis management support during emotional or behavioral episodes, ensuring safety for clients and staff.
Utilize motivational interviewing techniques to encourage clients’ engagement in treatment and self-care activities.
Connect clients with community resources, mental health services, addiction counseling, social services, and other supportive programs.
Document interactions accurately within electronic health record (EHR) systems while maintaining confidentiality and compliance with privacy regulations.
Mentor clients through ongoing support, helping them develop coping skills, resilience strategies, and self-advocacy abilities.

Qualifications

Lived experience related to trauma recovery, mental health challenges, or addiction recovery is highly valued.
Knowledge of behavioral health concepts, mental health counseling techniques, and social work principles.
Skills in crisis intervention and crisis management to handle urgent situations effectively.
Familiarity with motivational interviewing methods to facilitate positive change conversations.
Experience working with diverse populations in community or healthcare settings is preferred.
Ability to operate EHR systems efficiently for documentation purposes.
Strong communication skills combined with a compassionate approach to peer support.
