Full Job Description

Job Summary

The Safety Coordinator supports the safe and effective operation in support of overall goals at Insulating Services, Inc. The Safety Coordinator is responsible to conduct inspections, make recommendations, and ensure safety policies and established protocol are followed by field staff. Position must be comfortable addressing issues, using tact and professional communications, to eliminate and reduce risks. Position serves as a liaison for safety among customers, employees, and Insulating Services Safety Department. Position will be responsible to conduct safety inspections to verify safe conditions, identify unsafe conditions, and recommend corrective measures to stakeholders.

This position is expected to demonstrate pride in work assignments by following all established policies, procedures, work rules, and Standards of Conduct. All positions at ISI are part of the company’s “Value Chain”. The effective and efficient execution of the day-to-day tasks impacts the profitability of the company.

Essential Job Functions:

Conduct weekly safety toolbox talks with crews and complete daily required documents such as Job Safety Analyses, JSA (AHA/ JHA/ etc).
Conduct regular inspections of equipment, including PPE or safety devices, to ensure safe operation. When conditions are unsafe or equipment is damaged, coordinate with Safety Department to take appropriate action.
Coordinate with supervisors and management to communicate crew safety measures.
Uphold company and site-specific safety policies by addressing unsafe practices or conditions with Safety Department.
Participate and represent Insulating Services in safety walks, inspections, or other safety related discussions with our customers and vendors.
Communicate directly and professionally with site supervisors, Safety Director, and other stakeholders regarding safety violations, recommendations, and decisions in a respectful manner.
Investigate and document safety violations, accidents, injuries and near misses. Make recommendations and implement outcomes to support prevention or risk mitigation.

Minimum Required Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities for success include but not limited to:

Knowledge of the methods, tools, equipment, standard practices, procedures, and regulations used in commercial and/or industrial insulation, or the ability to acquire such knowledge within first year of hire.
Knowledge of and ability to apply OSHA 1926 and other applicable Safety standards in construction setting, including safety practices and occupational hazards in commercial and/or industrial insulation.
Skilled in effective communication. Ability to receive and convey information effectively through speaking and writing; understanding information received from others including written and oral communications.
Skilled in efficiently and effectively make choices, considering factors such as cost, benefits, and ethical implications of potential actions.
Skilled in basic computer functions including typing, proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite particularly Outlook, Excel, and Word (or comparable programs). Skilled, or ability to learn, in the use of computer programs such as estimating software, scheduling tools, email correspondence, and other related programs.
Ability to obtain and maintain an approved company driving permit at time of hire.
Ability to be punctual and reliable in reporting to work, attending meetings, responding to inquiries, performing various tasks, completing/submitting various assignments; keeps commitments.
Ability to manage time effectively to meet varying deadlines of multiple staff, ongoing and new projects, and tasks of self. Ability to shift focus to ensure all projects receive adequate attention.
Ability to exhibit professional behavior, interact regularly and professionally with all staff and stakeholders.
Ability to assess when something is wrong, or likely to go wrong; recognizing there is a problem that needs a solution. The ability to take initiative to avoid or mitigate problems as they may arise.
Ability to discern various situations and when to engage peers and/or management.
Ability to work on a team and contribute to team goals on various tasks, assignments, or projects.
Ability to keep accurate and organized records or files, including hard and electronic copies, in a way that can be effectively accessed and remain confidential when necessary; review reports and analyze data.
Ability to keep confidentiality of conversations and data including but not limited to personnel information, proprietary information, administrative data, etc.

Physical & Sensory Requirements:

Prolonged periods of sitting, standing, writing, walking, and typing.
Frequent walking and driving. Occasional lifting and carrying of up to fifty pounds.
May climb ladders, work on uneven or slippery surfaces, work in confined spaces, use or be exposed to vibrating machinery or tools. As needed work outside exposed to all weather conditions, moving objects/equipment/vehicles, and excessive noise.
Vision, depth perception to inspect potential work area for hazards, material requirements and access.

Preferred Qualifications:

Eight years of related work experience.
Ability to speak and understand Spanish.
OSHA 510 Certification.

Travel:

Required – frequent travel including daytime and overnight may be required throughout the duration of each project; locations are project based primarily in, but not limited to, the Southeastern US region.
Must have consistent and reliable means of transportation to get to/from assigned locations.
