Job Summary

The Project Manager is a critical, highly collaborative role responsible for the end-to-end execution of Acorn’s client-facing and internal technology initiatives. This position is responsible for scoping, designing, and implementing complex IT projects, working closely with internal Account Management, Engineering, and Security departments to ensure solutions are delivered on time, within budget, and in strict alignment with customer expectations. We seek an IT Project Manager who is deeply passionate about effective communication and coordination, has a strong grasp of technology and business practices, and can seamlessly manage relationships with both internal teams and external customer vendors.

General Purpose of the Position

The core purpose of this position is to drive project delivery and secure technology transformations while championing our values of Obsessive Customer Service and Deep Strategic Partnerships. By serving as the central point of contact for project stakeholders, the Project Manager translates strategic business needs into highly organized technical executions. This role monitors project health, proactively mitigates risks, manages resources, and collaborates with engineering teams to deploy cutting-edge infrastructure, ensuring our partners experience minimal disruption and maximum strategic value.

Job Description

Project Lifecycle Management: Manage projects throughout their entire lifecycle, including scoping, planning, implementation, and closure, ensuring they are completed according to schedule and within budget.
Engineering & Architecture Collaboration: Partner with internal Engineering teams to develop comprehensive project plans and technical architectures.
Core Technical Implementations: Manage complex IT-related projects, including the implementation and/or migration of Microsoft/Office 365, Azure, network refresh projects, and server/PC refresh projects.
Stakeholder & Vendor Communication: Coordinate implementations and facilitate proactive, effective communication with all project stakeholders, technical staff, and external customer vendors.
Reporting & Project Health: Monitor project health and produce regular status reports, bi-weekly and monthly progress updates, and documentation for internal management and customer points of contact.
Resource & Priority Alignment: Manage resources, execute capacity planning, and work with leadership teams to ensure accurate prioritization of projects and tasks.
Risk & Problem Management: Identify, assess, and resolve project-related issues, manage operational risks, and apply structured problem management practices.
Governance & Process Optimization: Develop, document, and continuously improve project governance processes to enhance delivery standards.
Strategic Planning & Business Analysis: Provide technology strategy planning, conduct feasibility studies to recommend solutions for business challenges, and review goods and services contracts for strategic fit.
On-Site Engagement: Travel to customer sites during the scoping and implementation phases of projects as required.

Education and Experience

Bachelor’s degree in a related field (such as Computer Science, Business, or Engineering) is required; applicable professional work experience may be substituted for formal education.
Minimum of 7 years of full-time, proven experience in an IT project coordination or project management capacity.
Hands-on experience with concepts, practices, and procedures related to the information technology field.
Demonstrated leadership capability, with a strong preference for candidates who have led technical or engineering teams.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, Project, or related scheduling and coordination software.
Direct experience working within a standard IT trouble ticketing or Professional Services Automation (PSA) platform.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Strong interpersonal, analytical, facilitation, prioritization, decision-making, and conflict-resolution skills.
Fundamental understanding of formal project management methodologies, including risk mitigation, detailed work plans, and resource allocations.
Ability to set priorities and solve complex problems independently without requiring frequent supervision.
Ability to evaluate technical solutions and issues while deferring to the expertise of the specialized engineering teams.
Strong attention to detail, optimism, and an intrinsic motivation to grow both personally and professionally.
Highly respectful team player who is comfortable asking for help and working in a fast-paced environment.

Job Type: Full-time, Non-Exempt

Work Location: Ontario, CA. This position is eligible for a hybrid schedule (typically 2-3 days in-office, with remote flexibility for the remaining days). However, all work-from-home options are extended at the sole discretion of management and may be modified or eliminated at any time based on company and operational needs.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
Close visual acuity to read technical documentation, analyze system data, and view computer monitors for extended periods.
Clear verbal communication and sufficient auditory capability to provide instruction, lead meetings, and interact with others through voice, phone, and video conferences.
Must be able to occasionally lift and/or move IT equipment and office supplies weighing up to 20 lbs.
Ability to reliably commute to and work fully on-site at the Ontario, CA corporate office as required by business needs.
