Full Job Description

Chemical Plant Operator / Tanker Loader

Southern Resin, a company within the Tailored Adhesives family of businesses, is seeking an experienced Chemical Plant Operator / Tanker Loader to join our manufacturing team.

The Chemical Plant Operator / Tanker Loader is responsible for supporting the safe and efficient operation of the chemical manufacturing process, including emulsion polymer and/or ketone aldehyde polymerization. This position also supports tanker loading operations, bulk storage, production documentation, and coordination with maintenance, technical, supervisory, and fleet personnel.

The ideal candidate is safety-focused, mechanically inclined, organized, and able to effectively manage multiple priorities in a manufacturing environment.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Oversee the production process for manufacturing emulsion polymer and/or ketone aldehyde products.
Operate and monitor plant equipment and process instrumentation.
Ensure equipment is operating properly and coordinate with Maintenance when service or repairs are needed.
Manage and coordinate activities of Material Specialists as required.
Follow established procedures during equipment shutdowns and emergency situations.
Obtain batch samples for Quality Control testing and make necessary process adjustments based on results.
Complete production records, formulas, batch tickets, and other required documentation.
Maintain accurate records of trailers loaded and update the truck-loading board as needed.
Ensure truck-loading and bulk-storage areas are maintained in a clean and orderly condition.
Steam out Tailored Chemical/Southern Resin tankers as scheduled.
Communicate regularly with the Fleet Manager regarding truck scheduling and updates.
Coordinate with technical and supervisory personnel to support safe and efficient production.
Follow all applicable safety and operating procedures.

Qualifications

Previous operational experience in the chemical or related manufacturing industry preferred.
Familiarity with IGNITION control software preferred.
Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
Ability to multitask and effectively manage time and priorities.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
Demonstrated leadership skills and the ability to coordinate activities.
Strong commitment to workplace safety and product quality.
Ability and willingness to work the assigned shift.

Shift Information

This position may be assigned to one of the following shifts:

1st Shift: 7:00 AM – 3:00 PM, Monday – Friday
2nd Shift: 3:00 PM – 11:00 PM, Monday – Friday
3rd Shift: 11:00 PM – 7:00 AM, Sunday – Thursday
