Position Summary

The Wildlife Inspector at Rock Pest Control is responsible for performing detailed wildlife inspections, diagnosing intrusion problems, and providing customized exclusion and remediation solutions for residential and commercial properties. This role requires a blend of technical expertise, customer education, and professional salesmanship.

The Wildlife Inspector must be confident handling ladders, inspecting attics, roofs, and crawl spaces, and communicating clearly with customers about what’s causing their problem and how Rock Pest Control will solve it. They are the customer’s first impression of our wildlife division—professional, trustworthy, and deeply knowledgeable.

The Wildlife Inspector educates customers on how Rock handles trapping, exclusion, cleanup, and long-term prevention, while preparing complete proposals, closing sales, and ensuring a flawless handoff to the service team.

What Success Looks Like

Wildlife inspections are performed safely, professionally, and with exceptional attention to detail.
Customers are educated and confident in Rock’s wildlife removal, exclusion, and cleanup processes.
Sales presentations are accurate, professional, and result in smooth, fully documented service setups.
All documentation, notes, and photos are complete in FieldRoutes before technician dispatch.
Complex or emotional customer situations are handled calmly, respectfully, and with confidence.
The Wildlife Inspector becomes a trusted advisor and subject matter expert in wildlife identification, trapping, exclusion, and remediation.
Communication between customer, technician, and management is proactive, consistent, and solution-driven.

Objectives (Key Results Areas)

Perform complete wildlife inspections of attics, roofs, crawl spaces, chimneys, and building exteriors to locate entry points and signs of animal activity.
Identify the source and species of nuisance wildlife such as bats, raccoons, squirrels, opossums, skunks, or birds.
Educate customers on Rock Pest Control’s trapping, exclusion, and sanitization processes, clearly outlining what will be done and why.
Prepare accurate, detailed proposals that include trapping, exclusion, remediation, and cleanup pricing, with photos and clear scope of work.
Obtain signatures and secure payment or deposit prior to scheduling service, ensuring all paperwork is complete and correct.
Serve as the primary point of contact for the customer from inspection through completion, ensuring expectations are met and communication remains open.
Act as a subject matter expert (SME) for wildlife behavior, trapping strategy, and construction-based exclusion. Educate internal staff and technicians as needed.
Lead property walkthroughs, educational presentations, or town halls for apartment communities or commercial clients to explain wildlife prevention and treatment processes.
Enter complete inspection notes, pricing, and images in FieldRoutes in real time for seamless technician handoff.
Address any customer issues or complaints promptly, communicating both upward to management and downward to the service team for resolution.
Follow up on open estimates and leads, maintaining strong customer relationships and consistent communication.
Maintain professionalism, empathy, and problem-solving attitude in every customer interaction.
Represent Rock Pest Control’s brand as a wildlife expert, operating safely and confidently in all field environments.

Education and Experience

Initial 90-Day Onboarding Period
The first 90 days serve as a mutual evaluation period to ensure alignment in professionalism, expertise, and company culture.

Licensing and Certification Requirements
All Wildlife Inspectors must hold or obtain a Nuisance Wildlife Damage Control Permit within 90 days of hire. Continued education in humane trapping, ladder safety, lift operation, and exclusion techniques is supported by Rock Pest Control.

Experience
Minimum of two (2) years of experience in wildlife control, pest control, roofing, or construction required. Must demonstrate hands-on knowledge of wildlife inspection, exclusion, and customer communication. Sales experience strongly preferred.

Physical Requirements

Must be able to climb ladders up to three stories high and operate aerial lifts as needed.
Must be able to crawl in attics and confined spaces in hot or cold conditions.
Must be able to lift, carry, and handle up to 75 lbs of traps, ladders, or materials.
Must be able to stand, walk, bend, and perform detailed inspections for extended periods.
Must be able to drive long distances throughout the Kansas City metro and surrounding areas.
Must maintain a clean, professional appearance and represent Rock Pest Control with pride.
