Full Job Description

The Pre-Professional Advisor is responsible for advising students who wish to enter a pre-health career and/or professional school. In addition, this position holds the responsibilities described below.

Maintain a minimum of three office hours per week for appointments and schedule other times as needed, in addition to being available by email and phone,
Advising will consist of course selection, interview preparation, application reviews, and overall navigation of professional schools and careers,
Develop a system with defined benchmarks for each area of interest (such as pre-medical, pre-dentistry, pre-veterinary, and others) to guide students through the application process,
Establish a mechanism to measure individual progress towards graduation and professional school,
Establish a network of locations for students to do internships/medical observation hours,
Serve as a co-advisor for the Pre Health-Professions Club,
Work with faculty to create and maintain a Health Professions Advisory Committee at Alvernia University

The Pre-Professional Advisor reports to the Chair of the Science Department and consults with the Dean of the College of STEAM and other administrative staff as appropriate.
