Full Job Description

O2 Employment Services is working with a reputable non-profit organization to find their next Accounting Specialist. This full-time position is based in Redding, CA.

The ideal candidate will have strong accounting knowledge, excellent organizational skills, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment while maintaining accuracy and confidentiality. This individual should be comfortable handling accounts payable and receivable, reconciliations, donation processing, and vendor relations while supporting the overall financial operations of the organization.

Accounting Specialist Compensation & Benefits:

$21.00 - $23.00 per hour
Full-time position
Medical, dental, vision, life insurance, and 401(k)
Meaningful work supporting a local non-profit organization

Accounting Specialist Qualifications:

Associate degree or higher in Accounting or related field preferred, or 3+ years of equivalent experience
Previous accounting experience required
Experience with accounts payable and accounts receivable
Knowledge of QuickBooks and Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel
Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
Ability to maintain confidentiality and strong internal controls
Ability to multitask and prioritize in a team-oriented environment
Non-profit accounting experience is a plus
Experience with Donor Perfect or similar fundraising software is preferred
Must be able to pass pre-employment screening including drug test and DMV review

Accounting Specialist Responsibilities:

Process accounts payable including invoice review, coding, and vendor payments
Collect and record accounts receivable payments
Maintain vendor accounts and compliance documentation
Process donation mail, prepare deposits, and maintain donation accountability
Assist with year-end donation statements and 1099 processing
Reconcile general ledger accounts and assist with monthly financial reporting
Support grant accounting and other non-profit accounting functions
Maintain proper cash controls and accurate financial records
Assist with annual financial audits and special accounting projects
Provide coverage for other accounting staff as needed
Maintain professionalism, discretion, and excellent customer service skills
