About Berry Metal Company:
Berry Metal Company is seeking a Technical Sales Manager – EAF to drive growth across Electrical Arc Furnace (EAF) equipment, aftermarket services, and steelmaking process solutions throughout the Southern United States.
This role is ideal for someone who combines deep technical understanding of melt shop operations and EAF systems with strong commercial sales ability and relationship management skills.
You will work directly with steel producers, melt shops, maintenance leaders, engineering teams, and executive leadership to provide technical solutions that improve furnace performance, productivity, efficiency, reliability, and safety.
What You’ll Do
- Technical Sales & Business Development
- Develop and execute strategic sales plans for EAF systems, upgrades, and aftermarket services
- Identify and pursue new business opportunities within steel mills, foundries, and heavy industrial markets
- Manage the full sales cycle including prospecting, technical evaluation, proposals, negotiations, and contract close
- Grow and maintain long-term customer relationships throughout assigned territory
- Represent the company at trade shows, conferences, and customer events
- Technical Expertise & Customer Solutions
Provide technical expertise related to:
- Electrical Arc Furnaces (EAF)
- Furnace transformers
- Electrode regulation systems
- Water-cooled panels
- Furnace automation and controls
- Power systems and harmonics
- Charging systems and auxiliary equipment
Additional responsibilities include:
- Conducting technical presentations and process evaluations
- Assisting customers with operational improvements related to productivity, energy consumption, refractory life, and furnace performance
- Collaborating closely with engineering and operations teams to deliver customized customer solutions
Customer & Account Management
- Serve as the primary commercial and technical contact for assigned accounts
- Coordinate with engineering, project management, and service teams to ensure successful project execution
- Proactively address customer concerns and maintain high customer satisfaction levels
Market Intelligence & Strategy
- Track steel industry trends, competitor activity, and emerging technologies
- Support strategic growth initiatives and product development discussions
- Prepare sales forecasts, market analyses, and account development plans
What We’re Looking For
Education
- Bachelor’s degree preferred in:
- Electrical Engineering
- Metallurgical Engineering
- Mechanical Engineering
- Industrial Engineering
- Or related technical field
Experience
- 5+ years of experience in one or more of the following:
- Electrical Arc Furnace operations
- Melt shop engineering
- Steel mill equipment sales
- Industrial technical sales
- Proven technical sales success preferred
- Technical Knowledge
Strong understanding of:
- EAF steelmaking processes
- Steel mill operations and maintenance
- Industrial power distribution systems
- Technical drawings, process data, and engineering specifications
Skills
- Strong communication and presentation skills
- Ability to translate complex technical concepts into customer-focused business solutions
- Technical proposal writing and commercial negotiation abilities
- Strong organizational and project coordination skills
- Self-motivated and comfortable managing customer priorities independently
Travel Requirements
- Ability to travel approximately 40–70% domestically and internationally
- Majority of travel focused throughout the Southeast and Southwest U.S. including Texas, Arkansas, Alabama, Mississippi, and South Carolina
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with:
- DC and AC EAF systems
- Ladle furnaces
- Secondary metallurgy equipment
- Energy optimization systems
- OEM and aftermarket service models
- Existing relationships within the North American steel industry strongly preferred.
Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate is technically strong, commercially driven, and understands the realities of steel production environments. This person can comfortably discuss furnace operations and process optimization while also managing high-level customer relationships and capital project discussions.
