Full Job Description

Position Overview

We are seeking a dynamic, experienced, and mission-driven Child Care Center Director to lead a licensed early learning program serving up to 95 children in Everett, Washington. This position is responsible for the daily operations, staffing, regulatory compliance, program quality, and family engagement, with a strong focus on inclusive practices and early intervention support.

Key Responsibilities Program & Operational Leadership

Oversee all day-to-day operations of a large childcare center (95 children), ensuring full compliance with Washington State DCYF licensing regulations (WAC 110-300).
Develop and implement high-quality, developmentally appropriate programming aligned with Early Achievers.
Manage enrollment, schedules, and classroom ratios.

Staff Supervision & Development

Hire, train, supervise, and evaluate a team of 20+ educators and support staff.
Ensure all staff meet required qualifications and complete mandatory training.
Provide mentorship and support for classroom management, behavior support, and inclusion strategies.

Compliance & Quality Assurance

Maintain records, incident logs, staff files, attendance, subsidy billing, and immunization records.
Prepare for and respond to licensing visits, Early Achievers assessments, and audits.
Enforce health, safety, and sanitation procedures in accordance with WAC 110-300.

Family & Community Engagement

Foster a welcoming, inclusive environment for families from diverse backgrounds.
Communicate regularly with families about children's progress, center events, and resources.
Represent the center in community partnerships and local initiatives.

Administrative & Financial Management

Collaborate on budget planning, purchasing, payroll oversight, and grant reporting.
Monitor financial sustainability, tuition billing, and state subsidy systems.

Minimum Qualifications

Must be at least 18 years of age
High School Diploma or GED
At least 47 college credits in Early Childhood Education (ECE), per WAC 110-300 for centers licensed for more than 25 children.
Minimum 2 years of experience working in a licensed childcare program, including at least 1 year in a supervisory or leadership role.
Successful completion of required trainings:
Child Care Basics (STARS)
First Aid / CPR / Bloodborne Pathogens
Food Handler’s Permit
Safe Sleep
Must pass a DCYF background check and have current TB test clearance

Preferred Qualifications

Associate or bachelor’s degree in early childhood education, Human Development, Education, or related field
WA State ECE Certificate (47 credits) or active progress toward completion
Knowledge of Early Achievers
Experience supporting children with special needs or behavioral challenges
Strong communication, organizational, and leadership skills

Work Environment & Schedule

Full-time, typically Monday–Friday, 40 hours/week
Must be available during licensing inspections, family meetings, and occasional evening events
May require flexibility to support classrooms during staff shortages

Compensation & Benefits

Salary Range: $57000–$67000
