Kitchen Manager – Sogno Toscano The Grove

Location: Sogno Toscano – Manhattan Beach, CA
Reports To: Executive Chef / Culinary Director, Sogno Toscano Hospitality
Pay: $25 per hour, based on experience
Schedule: 40+ hours per week

Position Overview

Sogno Toscano Hospitality is seeking an experienced, hands-on Kitchen Manager to lead the back-of-house operation at Sogno Toscano Manhattan Beach.

We are looking for a strong kitchen leader with high-volume restaurant experience who is comfortable working alongside the team, developing BOH staff, and taking ownership of daily kitchen operations. Opening team member of a new location set to open in October.

The Kitchen Manager will report directly to the Executive Chef / Culinary Director of Sogno Toscano Hospitality and will be responsible for maintaining the company’s culinary, operational, and sanitation standards.

Key Responsibilities

Lead and manage all BOH staff and daily kitchen operations
Work hands-on alongside the kitchen team and step into stations when necessary
Run and control expo during high-volume service
Maintain consistent food quality, presentation, portioning, and recipe execution
Hire, Train, coach, develop, and hold BOH employees accountable
Maintain a professional, productive, and organized kitchen culture
Control BOH labor costs through effective scheduling and productivity management
Monitor and control food cost, waste, portioning, prep, and inventory
Maintain a consistently clean, organized, and sanitary kitchen
Ensure proper food handling, storage, labeling, temperatures, and sanitation procedures
Follow and enforce all Sogno Toscano SOPs, recipes, standards, and operational procedures
Maintain proper prep levels and organization for high-volume service
Identify operational issues and resolve them before they impact service
Communicate effectively with the Executive Chef / Culinary Director, FOH management, and BOH team
Maintain strong operational and culinary standards during weekends, holidays, and peak-volume periods

Qualifications

2–3+ years of kitchen management experience
Strong experience in a high-volume restaurant environment
Experience with Italian cuisine strongly preferred
Proficient in English and Spanish
Strong leadership and BOH staff-management skills
Comfortable running expo and directing a busy service
Understanding of food cost, labor cost, inventory, waste, and kitchen profitability
Strong knowledge of food safety and sanitation standards
Highly organized, dependable, and able to maintain standards under pressure
Open availability, including weekends and holidays

Compensation & Opportunity

Starting pay: $25/hour, depending on experience
Approximately 40 hours per week
