Job Overview
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented GIS Fiber Network Designer I to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will be responsible to create, update and revise drawings, designs, and layouts for fiber optic build outs while complying with industry specifications, client needs, contracts, and/or loan requirements. Responsible for planning review of bandwidth utilization, powering, and node sizing for future forecasting considerations. In addition this role will assist with 3D RouteView field data collection. The GIS Fiber Network Designer I will work collaboratively with both the OSP and GIS departments to ensure client needs are obtained per set deadlines in place.
This position has no direct reports and reports to the GIS Design Supervisor.

RESULTS
Quality Design Work
Analyze and interpret geographic data to support decision making.
Collect, manage, and analyze telecommunications, geographic, and client data for fiber optic construction.
Design, develop and implement GIS systems, databases, and tools based on engineering specifications using applicable design data.
Create interactive maps and visualizations to represent data. Updates as-builts as construction is completed and releases the data.
Work Schedules & Deadlines
Ensure deadlines are met and tasks are accurately completed to ensure highest level of client relationships.
Manage system to ensure system accuracy, efficiency, and functionality.
Technical Skills & Strategy
Ability to produce drawings through the use of ESRI, Visio, Excel, Innovative Systems eLation, and GIS systems
Assists with project estimates and responses to RFPs; assist with presentations to clients and potential clients
Strategizes use of ESRI tools in order to maximize efficiencies and accuracy for clients served as well as potential clients.
Collaboration & Planning
Collaborate with OSP department to identify, develop, and prioritize project goals.
Manage multiple projects for clients simultaneously, achieving project goals and timeline and reporting.
3-D RouteView Drive
Assist in 3D RouteView field data collection.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Create, update and revise drawings, designs, and layouts for fiber optic buildouts using GIS software or manual means of drafting to meet client needs.
- Collect, manage, and analyze telecommunications, geographic, and client data for fiber optic construction.
- 3D RouteView field data collection.
- Design, develop and implement GIS systems, databases, and tools based on engineering specifications using applicable design data.
- Create interactive maps and visualizations to represent data.
- Analyze and interpret geographic data to support decision making.
- Updates as-builts as construction is completed and releases the data.
- Carries out quality control functions to ensure efficient design.
- May assist with estimation of material and other associated costs with Microsoft Excel, advanced knowledge of formulas and expressions are needed.
- May coordinate project planning and site surveys with clients, outside plant personnel, contractors, or other representatives.
- Collaborate with OSP department to identify, develop, and prioritize project goals.
- Perform basic and advanced processing tasks and production using ESRI / ArcGIS Enterprise and ESRI extension platforms.
- Prepares documentation to support design drawings.
- Converts physical maps into a digital form for computer usage.
- Manages digital library of geographic maps in various file types.
- Creates shapefiles to merge with topographical data and external data for analysis.
- Interface and coordinate workflow directly with internal and external departments, vendors, and organizations.
- Manage multiple projects for clients simultaneously, achieving project goals and timeline and reporting.
- Manage and maintain system functionality.
- Promote CNS owner member’s interest in GIS for purpose of advancing revenue.
- Ensure deadlines are met and tasks are accurately completed to ensure highest level of client relationships.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
- Associate degree in Telecommunications, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, Information Technology (IT), Land Surveying, GIS, Civil Engineering, or equivalent work experience.
- Two or more years of ESRI / ArcGIS.
- Two or more years’ experience designing telecommunications infrastructure to include broadband and/or fiber optic systems.
- 3 years or more of Telecommunications work experience.
Other Requirements:
- Valid driver’s license with acceptable record.
- Willingness to travel if needed for field assignments. (less than 25%)

WORK CONDITIONS:
General office environment, occasional construction project job site visit may be required.

Pay: $26.00 - $27.50 per hour
