Full Job Description

Insurance Statutory Senior Accountant

This role is not for most accountants.

ARC Strategic Services is a consulting group inside TAC4 Solutions that helps insurance companies solve difficult accounting and reporting problems. When something complicated breaks inside an insurance finance department, our clients call us.

We are looking for a highly experienced insurance accounting consultant who takes ownership of problems and does not stop until they are solved.

If you are looking for a predictable accounting job with clean handoffs and narrow responsibilities, this role will frustrate you.

If you enjoy digging into complex problems, figuring out what is actually going on, and helping leaders make the right decision, you may love this work.

What this role actually looks like:

Solving difficult statutory accounting and reporting issues
Preparing or reviewing quarterly and annual statutory filings
Digging into reconciliations or reporting problems until the root cause is clear
Guiding senior accounting staff through complicated issues
Advising CFOs and controllers on technical accounting decisions
Leading calls with executives, auditors, regulators, and internal teams
Becoming the trusted expert a client calls when something important is unclear

This requires more than technical knowledge. Our consultants earn trust quickly and lead conversations with confidence and humility. They listen carefully. They ask the right questions. They understand when to pause before speaking.

The work is detailed. The expectations are high. Our clients rely on us when the stakes matter.

The kind of person who succeeds here usually has:

Significant insurance statutory accounting experience
Deep familiarity with NAIC reporting and state filings
The ability to untangle complicated accounting questions
Model Audit Rule experience
The confidence to speak with both staff accountants and CFOs
A strong ownership mindset and work ethic
The ability to stay calm and thoughtful when situations become complex
