As a nuclear engineer, you will use professional experience, expertise, and judgment to provide nuclear engineering support and guidance for advanced nuclear energy industrial and government customers. Duties include, but are not limited to:

Performs integrated safety analysis for a nuclear facility;
Develops and documents models for nuclear system thermal performance limits;
Conducts peer review criticality safety or shielding analyses for material handling;
Independently reviews customer system specifications;
Evaluates scenarios to quantify, prevent, and mitigate risk; and
Performs other tasks as necessary.

You may have occasional travel to support customers or DeMase business development.

Basic Qualifications

A thorough understanding of the fundamentals of nuclear engineering is required as demonstrated by a BS degree in nuclear engineering or similar engineering degree with nuclear work experience
Familiarity with nuclear system design principles (neutronics, thermal hydraulics, instrumentation and control, shielding, fuel cycle, nuclear criticality safety) and nuclear technologies (reactors, fuel fabrication, enrichment, fuel reprocessing, isotope generation)
The ability to perform calculations manually and computationally and to document the work in clear written reports and briefings
Self-motivation and enthusiasm to drive project deliverables and to actively seek mentorship as needed
Ability to work with customers and colleagues to resolve technical issues within a defined schedule
Minimum experience: Bachelor's degree, six (6)+ years of experience or Master's degree, three (3)+ years of experience

Preferred Skills and Qualifications

Graduate degree in nuclear engineering or related field with nuclear industry experience
MCNP and/or SCALE model development
Modelica, RELAP, TRACE, or other subchannel code or system model development
Advanced reactor design knowledge
Fuel cycle operations experience
Understanding of handling export controlled or sensitive information
