Project Manager – Federal Projects

Location: Project-based; nationwide travel

Type: Full-time

Overview:

We are recruiting on behalf of our client, a major North American infrastructure contractor, for a Project Manager to support complex civil and infrastructure federal projects. This role plays a critical part in ensuring all construction activities meet contractual specifications, regulatory standards, and internal quality requirements.

Your key responsibilities will be to manage a phase of a large complex project or manage multiple medium-to-large sized projects, ranging from several-hundred-thousand to multi-million dollars in value. You will plans, direct, and coordinate activities of designated project to ensure that goals or objectives of project are accomplished within prescribed time frame and funding parameters by performing the following duties personally or through subordinate supervisors.

Key Responsibilities:

Responsibilities include project planning, scheduling, cost control, change management, subcontractor coordination, and acting as the face of the company to municipalities and public owners.
Acts as the project lead with strong coordination responsibilities across crews, subcontractors, and clients.
Strong emphasis on client and subcontractor relationship management.

Project Environment:

Field-based role embedded within active construction projects.
Projects often delivered for federal agencies and require strict documentation protocols.

Ideal Background & Experience:

Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Architecture, or related field preferred.
Alternatively, strong practical experience (typically 5–10+ years) in heavy civil construction environments.
Experience working on infrastructure projects such as earthwork, waterways, dams, bridges, ports, etc..
Exposure to federal construction environments or government-funded infrastructure projects is highly desirable.
Familiarity with quality documentation systems and construction inspection processes.

Preferred Certifications & Systems:

Primavera P6 or other project management software.

Mindset & Cultural Fit:

Highly detail-oriented with strong documentation discipline and compliance awareness.
Comfortable operating in fast-paced construction environments where issues must be addressed quickly.
Experience working for contractors rather than client-side or manufacturing-led environments.
