Part Time Junior Bookkeeper

As a Junior Bookkeeper, you will be responsible for accurately recording financial transactions, reconciling accounts, processing payroll through Gusto, also manually keeping track of payroll clients that don’t use Gusto, making payroll tax payments, filing payroll tax forms and providing support to the Account Manager.

Type of Position: Part-time (up to 20 hours per month) with goal to move to more hours and/or full time in the future, if you are interested

Position Pay: $18 - $22 Training hourly rate (first 90 days); $20 - $24 hourly rate after training period

List of Job Responsibilities:

- Categorize and record financial transactions in QuickBooks Online

- Reconcile bank accounts and troubleshoot any errors in reconciliation

- Ensure accuracy of all recorded transactions

- Request documentation and information from clients and ensure consistent follow-ups to retrieve necessary information

- Run payroll via Gusto

- Manually process payroll (Maintain spreadsheet with payroll info, file and pay federal, state and local payroll taxes)

- Sales tax filings

- Review and code receipts, invoices, and bills in Hubdoc

- Keep accurate records and information about each client

- Create SOPs (standard operating procedures) as needed for your role and duties

- Update account manager on the status of client work and any delays

- Perform month-end close with accuracy

- Meet with clients monthly or quarterly to discuss financial reports

- Fill out monthly Quality Control forms with detail

- Support account manager with various tasks

- Process invoices, receipts, and payments accurately and in a timely manner

- Stay updated with accounting principles, practices, regulations, and fundamentals

- Handle general admin tasks related to the bookkeeping team

- Maintain confidentiality of clients' information and ensure you handle all necessary sensitive data

Requirements:

Education: High school diploma or equivalent (Bachelor's degree in accounting or related field preferred)

Experience: 1-2 years of bookkeeping experience

Equipment: Proficiency in QuickBooks Online and Google Suite

Job Non-Negotiables:

- Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills

- Ability to work independently and meet deadlines

- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

- Strong problem-solving and analytical abilities

- Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information

- Familiarity with cloud-based accounting software

- Strong understanding of bookkeeping concepts

Job Nice-to-Haves:

- Knowledge of tax regulations and compliance

- Experience with payroll processing

- Experience with online platforms like Tax Bandits, Zoom, Gusto, Google Drive, Asana, Notion and Slack.

Any Additional Details:

This position is remote, and you must have a computer with a reliable internet connection and a quiet workspace. Zoom meetings are required with the use of the camera. Equipment for zoom meetings is also a must. Some parts of the month and year are busier than others. For example, the beginning of the month is busier than the end of the month. Quarter end and year end also have a heavier work load.
