Full Job Description

is SUMMARY: The Forensic Therapist is responsible for providing diagnostic assessments, individual, and group therapy to court-involved individuals. They must have experience working with diverse populations. This is a fully remote position requiring reliable internet access.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

10-20 hours per week (negotiable)
Remote work
Maintain a forensic caseload
Provide 8 weeks of individual therapy to court-involved clients via Teletherapy
Submit monthly client progress notes
Conduct forensic mental health evaluations
Assess clients through interviews, tests, and collaboration with staff
Maintain confidentiality and comply with HIPAA
Meet deadlines
Identify community resources to support therapy
Advocate for clients in crisis situations
Develop and implement treatment plans based on assessments
Utilize and manage the EMR system
Report suspected abuse or neglect as required by law
Demonstrate knowledge of emergency procedures
Represent MAPS professionally at meetings and events

QUALIFICATIONS:

**MUST be licensed in the District of Columbia Metropolitian Area.**
LMFT, LICSW/LCSW-C, LCSW, or LCPC (in good standing)
Maintain licensure throughout employment
Ability to work independently and in a team
Flexible schedule, including some evenings
Strong organizational and communication skills

EDUCATION: Master’s degree in counseling, Psychology, Marriage & Family Therapy, or a related field (licensed Psychologist with forensic experience preferred).

EXPERIENCE:

1-5 years of experience with court-involved populations
At least 1 year of experience providing diagnostic assessments and therapy to court-involved individuals

LANGUAGE SKILLS:

Ability to interpret regulations and write reports/procedures
Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred

REASONING ABILITY:

Ability to solve practical problems with limited guidance

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

Must be able to sit, walk, and use hands frequently. Reasonable accommodation is available.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

Remote work environment, moderate noise level

REQUIRED CLEARANCE:

Federal background clearance
