Job Summary
TEMP TO PERMANENT AFTER 3 MONTHS

The incoming manager will work closely with the current Coding Operations Coordinator- to identify opportunities for improvement of workflows, prebill, system efficiencies, workforce management, develop presentations, and coding education They will also be a coding resource to the team when needed

Must be able to handle working in a fast-paced environment that’s highly innovative and cutting edge when it comes to medicine, technology, and reporting.

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Inpatient Coding Manager to lead our inpatient coding team. The ideal candidate will possess extensive knowledge of medical coding standards, healthcare regulations, and inpatient hospital billing processes. As the Inpatient Coding Manager, you will oversee the accurate and timely coding of hospital inpatient records, ensuring compliance with industry guidelines while supporting the organization’s financial health and regulatory adherence. Your leadership will be instrumental in maintaining high-quality coding practices and fostering a collaborative team environment.

Responsibilities

Supervise and mentor inpatient coding staff to ensure accurate, compliant, and efficient coding practices.
Review complex inpatient medical records to verify correct code assignment in accordance with ICD-10-CM (International Classification of Diseases, Tenth Revision, Clinical Modification) and other relevant coding standards.
Monitor departmental productivity and quality metrics, implementing process improvements as needed to optimize performance.
Collaborate with clinical departments, billing teams, and compliance officers to resolve coding discrepancies and ensure documentation adequacy.
Maintain up-to-date knowledge of healthcare regulations, coding guidelines, and reimbursement policies affecting inpatient services.
Conduct regular audits of coded records to ensure adherence to industry standards and internal policies.
Provide ongoing training and education to coding staff on updates in coding systems, regulatory changes, and best practices.
Support accreditation efforts by ensuring departmental compliance with all applicable healthcare regulations and standards.

Experience

MUST HAVE CCS, RHIT or RHIA
Proven experience in inpatient hospital coding with at Multi-Hospital based Healthcare system
Prior supervisory or managerial experience leading a team of medical coders in a healthcare setting.
Comprehensive knowledge of healthcare reimbursement methodologies, including Medicare, Medicaid, and private insurance billing processes.
Familiarity with EPIC and 3M tools used within hospital environments.
Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex clinical documentation accurately.
Excellent communication skills for effective collaboration across multidisciplinary teams.

Pay: $50.00 - $65.00 per hour
