Full Job Description

Mental Health & Substance Use Counselor (LPCC/LCSW/LAC) — Remote Contract

We're hiring across all clinical levels - licensed clinicians, license-candidates, and clinical interns are all welcome to apply. Please note: this role requires licensure or registration specifically in the state of Colorado. Out-of-state licenses alone do not qualify; Colorado Medicaid clients must be served by a provider licensed, certified, or registered in Colorado.

Lifeline Mental Health is a Colorado behavioral health rendering provider organization (RPO), providing clinical oversight and billing infrastructure for a growing network of peer coaching recovery agencies across the state. Under our license, our partner agencies deliver Medicaid-funded behavioral health services to individuals who might otherwise fall through the cracks of the traditional healthcare system — people navigating homelessness, incarceration reentry, early recovery, and long-term sobriety, including youth beginning at age 12.

Position Summary

Lifeline Mental Health is seeking licensed clinicians (LPCC or LCSW) and clinical interns to join our clinical team, providing direct support to individuals in early recovery. This includes biopsychosocial assessments, individual sessions, and service plan development, working closely with our peer coaching network to deliver person-centered care. Whether you're a licensed clinician looking for flexible contract hours, or a graduate student seeking a supervised practicum placement, we'd love to hear from you — and the chance to make a real difference in the lives of the people we serve.

Responsibilities

Conduct comprehensive Biopsychosocial (BPS) assessments for new and existing clients
Provide individual, one-on-one clinical/support sessions
Develop, update, and monitor client service plans in collaboration with peer coaches and care team
Maintain timely, compliant clinical documentation in accordance with Medicaid billing and 42 CFR Part 2 requirements
Coordinate with peer coaches and agency partners to ensure continuity of care
Participate in clinical supervision/consultation (required for interns; available for licensed clinicians as needed)

Qualifications

Licensed Clinicians: Active Colorado licensure required — LPCC, LPC, LCSW, LSW, or LAC license/candidacy in the state of Colorado, or a valid Colorado telehealth registration (out-of-state license alone does not meet this requirement)
Clinical Interns: Currently enrolled in a CACREP/CSWE-accredited (or equivalent) graduate counseling or social work program, in good standing to complete practicum/internship hours; Colorado registration requirements apply where applicable
Experience or coursework in substance use/behavioral health populations preferred
Strong documentation and time-management skills
Comfortable working independently in a multi-agency, contractor-style environment

Position Type: 1099 Independent Contractor (Licensed Clinicians) or Unpaid Practicum Placement, Academic Credit (Clinical Interns)
Location: Virtual (Denver Metro area preferred)
Compensation: $75–$95/hr, based on service type and license level (LPCC/LCSW). Practicum placements are unpaid for academic credit.

Pay: $75.00 - $120.00 per hour
