Private Client Tax Manager | Trusts & Estates

Public accounting experience essential

Remote or Hybrid | Illinois

You shouldn't have to choose between complex Trusts & Estates work and genuine flexibility.

Too often, the firms with the most sophisticated High Net Worth clients come with more layers, more bureaucracy and less freedom.

This role offers something different.

You'll work on complex Trusts & Estates, High Net Worth individuals, family partnerships, gift tax and wealth transfer planning, while enjoying the culture of an independent firm where people know each other and flexibility is genuinely part of the way they work.

You'll join a dedicated High Net Worth and Family Office team within an Illinois CPA firm of fewer than 100 people. This is a growing area of the firm and they're looking to strengthen the team over the summer, giving new hires plenty of time to get up to speed before the September and October deadlines.

Not every independent firm stays independent. This one intends to.

There are no private equity plans and no desire to become the next national consolidator. The focus is on growing the right way, investing in their own people and building the firm for the long term. They're continuing to expand, but by bringing together like minded firms that share the same values rather than chasing growth for growth's sake.

The work goes well beyond tax returns.

You'll advise High Net Worth individuals and families on trusts, estates, gifts and wealth transfer planning, helping clients navigate complex tax issues and make informed decisions long before a filing deadline arrives.

This is the type of role that suits someone who enjoys building relationships. Someone who picks up the phone, asks the right questions and becomes a trusted adviser, not someone who hides behind email.

You'll work directly with the Partners leading this specialist group, giving you real exposure to sophisticated planning work while building long term relationships with your own clients.

The team is already set up for remote working. One of the practice leaders works remotely, the other is in the office most days, and several members of the team are fully remote, so wherever you're based, you'll be fully supported.

A few other things worth knowing:

Summer Fridays from mid May to mid August
Office closed between Christmas and New Year
Additional paid time off after key deadlines
401(k), CPA support and bonus pool
Remote or hybrid working

You'll ideally hold your CPA or EA and have experience working with Trusts & Estates, High Net Worth individuals and tax planning.
