Position Summary
The Junior Design Engineer supports the development of attraction systems and components by assisting in the design, modeling, and documentation of engineering solutions. This role works closely with the Director of Projects & Engineering and broader project teams to help translate concepts into practical, buildable designs that align with project requirements, safety standards, and operational needs.
This is a position designed for individuals looking to grow within engineering and attraction development. The role provides hands-on exposure to real-world applications, including collaboration with construction, manufacturing, and operations teams. The Junior Design Engineer will contribute to ongoing projects while developing technical skills, industry knowledge, and an understanding of how designs are executed in the field.
In essence, this role supports the design process from concept through implementation while learning to develop efficient, functional, and scalable engineering solutions.
Key Responsibilities
1. Design Development Support
- Assist in the development and refinement of designs for attraction systems, components, and assemblies.
- Support senior team members in creating solutions that align with project and operational requirements.
- Participate in design reviews and provide input as experience develops.
2. CAD Modeling & Technical Drawings
- Create and update 3D models and technical drawings using CAD software (SolidWorks, AutoCAD, SketchUp).
- Assist in layout coordination and integration of designs into project plans.
- Maintain accuracy and organization of design files and revisions.
3. Technical Documentation
- Assist in prototype development and testing efforts.
- Help evaluate performance, functionality, and usability of designs.
- Support implementation of feedback from testing and field observations.
4. Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Work closely with the Director of Projects & Engineering and other teams including construction, procurement, and operations.
- Support coordination between design and field teams to ensure designs are practical and executable.
- Assist in communicating design intent and updates to relevant stakeholders.
5. Continuous Learning & Improvement
- Learn and apply best practices in design, engineering, and construction coordination.
- Support design improvements, cost optimization, and efficiency initiatives.
- Develop familiarity with company standards and attraction systems.
6. Field & Vendor Exposure
- Participate in field visits, site reviews, or installation support as needed.
- Assist in coordinating with vendors and suppliers regarding design requirements and materials.
- Travel as needed to support project understanding and development.
Qualifications
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field preferred.
Experience:
- Experience in engineering, design, or manufacturing preferred.
- Exposure to ASTM standards or regulated environments a plus.
- Familiarity with power tools, measuring tools, or basic fabrication/construction practices.
Skills & Competencies:
- Intermediate proficiency in CAD software (SolidWorks, AutoCAD, SketchUp)
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook)
- Familiarity with Adobe Software
- Strong problem-solving and critical thinking abilities.
- High attention to detail.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks.

Physical Requirements
· Ability to sit or stand for extended periods and travel to support field visits, testing or project coordination (30%).
· Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. (construction or fabrication equipment).
· Comfortable working in both office and active construction environments.
Work Schedule
This is a full-time, exempt role with standard Monday–Friday working hours. Flexibility is expected to meet design deadlines, support cross-functional teams, and align with field or vendor schedules. Occasional evening, weekend work, and travel may be required depending on project demands.
