Full Job Description

About the Opportunity

We are seeking motivated Master's-level and Doctoral-level students in Psychology, Counseling, Social Work, Marriage and Family Therapy, or related behavioral health fields who are passionate about helping immigrants and underserved populations. This is an excellent opportunity for individuals interested in clinical assessment, trauma-informed care, and immigration-related mental health services.

This is a flexible, project-based position that allows clinicians-in-training to gain valuable experience conducting immigration psychological evaluations while maintaining control over their schedules. Evaluations are conducted primarily through telehealth and focus on documenting psychological, emotional, and psychosocial factors relevant to immigration cases. Comprehensive training, ongoing guidance, and support will be provided.

Position Responsibilities

The selected candidate will conduct clinical and psychosocial interviews with clients seeking immigration-related evaluations. Responsibilities include gathering relevant psychological, medical, social, educational, occupational, family, and trauma histories; identifying symptoms consistent with DSM-5 diagnostic criteria; administering and scoring psychological screening instruments when appropriate; and preparing comprehensive professional reports based on interview findings and supporting documentation.

The evaluator will maintain accurate and timely documentation, communicate effectively with supervising clinicians and administrative staff, and provide culturally sensitive, trauma-informed services to a diverse population of immigrants and their families.

Qualifications

Candidates should be currently enrolled in or have completed a Master's or Doctoral program in Psychology, Clinical Mental Health Counseling, Social Work, Marriage and Family Therapy, or a related behavioral health field. Applicants must possess a solid understanding of common DSM-5 diagnoses, particularly anxiety disorders, depressive disorders, trauma- and stressor-related disorders, adjustment disorders, and other frequently encountered mental health conditions.

Strong clinical interviewing skills, the ability to establish rapport with clients from diverse cultural backgrounds, and excellent written communication skills are essential. Because immigration evaluations involve extensive documentation and report preparation, candidates must be comfortable producing detailed, professional reports and synthesizing complex clinical information into clear and organized narratives.

Applicants should also demonstrate proficiency in Microsoft Word, including report formatting, editing, and document preparation, as well as proficiency in Microsoft Excel for case tracking, organization of information, and maintenance of evaluation-related records. Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently while following established protocols are required.

Required Technology

Candidates must have access to a reliable computer with video and audio capabilities, a stable internet connection, Zoom for telehealth interviews, and WhatsApp for communication with clients and staff. A private and professional workspace suitable for confidential telehealth services is required. Working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel is essential.

Preferred Qualifications

Preference will be given to candidates with prior experience conducting clinical interviews, psychosocial assessments, intake evaluations, psychological testing, or report writing. Experience working with immigrant, refugee, asylum-seeking, or culturally diverse populations is highly desirable. Fluency in both English and Spanish or both English and Portuguese is required.
