Senior Analytics/Data Engineer

Client: Leading DTC Home Goods Company

Reports To: Client Director

Employment Type: Contract (with potential for conversion)

Location: Fully Remote (US-based candidates only) West Coast preferred.

About the Client

Our client is a leading direct-to-consumer home goods company operating across both DTC ecommerce and wholesale channels. With a high-transaction, data-intensive business model, they are investing in a modern data stack to power smarter, faster decision-making across the organization. This is a high-visibility engagement with a collaborative team committed to doing data infrastructure the right way.

Position Summary

The Senior Analytics/Data Engineer is a technical leader who spans the full data stack from ingestion to end-state modeling. This role fills engineering gaps during platform migration while architecting scalable solutions across data engineering and analytics engineering domains. The ideal candidate can design data pipelines, build transformation logic, and own technical architecture decisions while mentoring other team members.

Essential Responsibilities

Architect and implement data ingestion pipelines from ecommerce platforms, wholesale partners, and third-party systems
Design and build scalable data models from raw data through analytics-ready datasets
Lead migration work from Redshift to Snowflake, focusing on both infrastructure and modeling
Build ETL/ELT processes using Airflow, dbt, and modern data stack tools
Implement data quality monitoring and alerting systems
Manage cloud data infrastructure optimizing performance and cost
Provide technical guidance and architecture review for Analytics Engineers
Own net-new data engineering projects while supporting migration priorities
Establish deployment automation and infrastructure-as-code practices

Required Expertise

5+ years building production data pipelines and analytics solutions in ecommerce or retail
Strong programming skills in Python and SQL
Experience spanning both data engineering and analytics engineering disciplines
Platform migration experience required (led or significantly contributed to data platform migrations)
Experience with workflow orchestration (Airflow required)
Cloud platform expertise in AWS data services
Hands-on experience with dbt for transformation logic
Background in high-volume transaction processing and ecommerce data patterns

Key Technical Competencies

Advanced SQL and query optimization for analytical workloads
Python for data pipeline development and automation
Data pipeline orchestration using Airflow (event-driven architectures)
Dbt for analytics transformation and modeling
Cloud data services on AWS (Lambda, Glue, S3, etc.)
Snowflake data platform architecture
Data ingestion tools (Fivetran, custom API integrations)
Version control, CI/CD, and infrastructure-as-code practices
Data quality frameworks and monitoring systems

Preferred Qualifications

Experience with wholesale EDI data flows and B2B transaction processing
Real-time/streaming data architecture experience
Container technologies and deployment automation
Technical mentorship and architecture review experience
Prior experience in technical leadership or staff engineer roles
Valid US work permit
