Full Job Description

Position Summary

We have a remote, contract opportunity with our client for an experienced Actuarial Analyst to support the development and launch of new Personal Lines insurance products in Virginia. This contract role will play a key part in building pricing strategies for Personal Auto, Homeowners, Dwelling Property, and Umbrella products by developing rate indications, evaluating rating plans, supporting regulatory filings, and providing actuarial insights that drive successful market entry.

The ideal candidate has a strong background in Property & Casualty Personal Lines pricing, experience launching products in new states, and the ability to develop pricing solutions when limited historical data exists.

Key Responsibilities

Develop actuarial rate indications and pricing recommendations for new Personal Lines insurance products.
Analyze product profitability, market competitiveness, and pricing adequacy to support strategic business decisions.
Design and evaluate rating plans, rating factors, territorial structures, class plans, discounts, and initial rate levels.
Build pricing strategies using ISO loss costs and other available data when internal experience is limited.
Prepare actuarial analyses and supporting documentation for regulatory rate filings.
Collaborate closely with Product Management and cross-functional business partners to support successful product launches.
Analyze competitor pricing and market positioning to help optimize product competitiveness.
Perform data analysis using Excel and other actuarial tools to support pricing initiatives.
Communicate findings and recommendations clearly to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Work independently while managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Economics, or a related quantitative field.
5+ years of Property & Casualty Personal Lines pricing experience.
Experience developing rate indications and pricing recommendations.
Strong knowledge of Personal Auto and/or Homeowners pricing.
Experience with rating plan development and rating factor analysis.
Strong analytical, quantitative, and problem-solving skills.
Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

Preferred Qualifications

5 or more CAS exams completed.
Experience launching Personal Lines products in a new state.
Experience building rates with limited historical company data.
ISO-based product and loss cost experience.
Personal Lines regulatory filing experience.
Experience selecting territorial structures, class plans, discounts, and initial rate levels.
Understanding of competitor pricing strategies and market positioning.
Virginia Personal Lines pricing and filing experience strongly preferred.

Pay: From $80.00 per hour
