Retention Strategist, DTC Ecommerce — Remote

Job Type: Full-Time, Independent Contractor | Location: Remote | Pay: $2,500–$4,000 per month

About IX Media
IX Media operates as the full retention department for direct-to-consumer ecommerce brands, owning email, SMS, subscription, and loyalty programs end to end. We run a pod model in which each strategist directs a project manager and dedicated designers, supported by an AI-assisted production pipeline that removes busywork so strategists focus on decisions and results. The team is fully remote and growing quickly.

About the Role
The Retention Strategist owns a portfolio of 5 to 6 DTC brands completely. You will analyze account and customer data, set monthly strategic direction, build campaign calendars, direct production through your pod, and present results directly to brand founders on client calls. This is a hands-on strategy position: you will personally build flows, campaigns, and segments in Klaviyo, with a delivery standard of 15 to 20 email campaigns plus SMS per brand per month.

Responsibilities

Own retention strategy and monthly planning across a multi-brand portfolio
Build and optimize flows, campaigns, segments, and pop-ups hands-on in Klaviyo
Plan and execute SMS programs in Postscript or Attentive
Manage subscription lifecycle messaging in Recharge, Skio, Loop, or Stay AI, including churn-critical touchpoints
Lead client calls and present performance, insights, and recommendations directly to founders
Direct a project manager and designers to ship on calendar, and QA all output before launch

Required Qualifications

3+ years in retention or lifecycle marketing for DTC ecommerce, with multiple brands managed concurrently (agency or portfolio experience)
Current, hands-on Klaviyo expertise: you build flows, campaigns, and segments yourself today
Shipped SMS programs on Postscript or Attentive
Direct working experience with at least one subscription platform: Recharge, Skio, Loop, or Stay AI
Working fluency with Shopify and DTC business models
Excellent spoken English and demonstrated experience leading client-facing calls
Full-time, exclusive availability (no concurrent clients)

Preferred Qualifications

Klaviyo certifications, particularly Deliverability
Loyalty platforms (Yotpo, Smile.io, Rivo) and attribution tools (Triple Whale, Lifetimely)
ClickUp and daily use of AI tools in your workflow

Compensation and Growth
$2,500–$4,000 per month depending on experience. 30-day paid trial with a formal review at day 30. We are scaling from two pods, and this seat is the direct path to the senior strategist role as the team grows.
