About Cove Health

Cove Health is a health technology company pioneering a new category: Healthcare Advocacy as a Service.

When an insurance plan denies a medication, stalls a prior authorization, or issues a "not medically necessary" decision, patients are left to argue medicine and law on their own. We change that. Cove Health pairs patients with a licensed physician — supported by our proprietary AI software — who reviews the case and drafts a rigorous, guideline-cited advocacy letter on the patient's behalf. Flat fee: $100 per case, or $29.99/month for members managing multiple issues.

We are not a law firm. We're a team building the thing that should have existed years ago: someone in the patient's corner who speaks the system's language.

The role:

Right now, the people who need Cove Health most don't know we exist. They're searching "how to appeal a denied claim" at 11 pm after a bad letter from their insurer. Your job is to make sure they find us — and trust us when they do.

This is our first marketing hire: a hands-on generalist who can set brand strategy and then go execute it. You'll own how Cove Health shows up in the world — earned media, search, social, content, community, and partnerships — and you'll be measured on awareness that converts into cases.

Insurance denial is one of the most emotionally charged topics in American life and a live national news story. That's an enormous opportunity and a real responsibility. We're looking for someone who can be loud about the problem and scrupulously careful about what we promise.

What you'll own:

Public relations & earned media

Build and run the media strategy from scratch: press list, pitch angles, media kit, founder positioning.
Land coverage in health, tech, consumer-finance, and policy outlets, plus podcasts and newsletters that reach patients and caregivers.
Position Cove Health as the definitive source of commentary on prior authorization, claim denials, and AI in patient advocacy — with a compelling founder/physician spokesperson program.
Handle inbound press, prep spokespeople, and manage the comms response when a story turns sensitive.

Brand & positioning

Sharpen the story behind "Healthcare Advocacy as a Service" — a category no one is searching for yet — into language patients immediately understand.
Own voice, messaging architecture, and visual consistency across the site, product, email, and social.
Build trust signals into everything: physician-led, guideline-cited, transparent about what we can and can't promise.

Content & SEO

Own organic search against high-intent, high-anxiety queries: denied claims, prior-authorization appeals, step-therapy overrides, formulary exceptions, independent medical review.
Produce genuinely useful content — plain-English guides to appeal rights, state-by-state IMR explainers, condition- and drug-specific resources — that earns links and ranks.
Run the editorial calendar end to end: briefs, drafting, physician review, publishing, and refreshes.

Social & community

Grow presence where patients and caregivers actually gather: patient advocacy communities, condition-specific groups, Reddit, TikTok, Instagram, LinkedIn, X.
Show up as a helpful participant rather than an advertiser — this audience can smell a pitch instantly.
Build a repeatable content engine (short-form video, explainer threads, case-anonymized wins) that compounds.

Partnerships & lifecycle

Develop relationships with patient advocacy organizations, disease foundations, chronic-illness creators, benefits consultants, and independent providers.
Own lifecycle email and referral loops: turn one-time $100 cases into members and members into advocates.
Stand up landing pages, tracking, and reporting so we know what's actually working.

Measurement

Define and report the metrics that matter: qualified traffic, signup rate, cost per acquired case, membership conversion, share of voice, media placements.
Run a disciplined test-and-learn cadence on a startup budget, and kill what doesn't work.

First 90 days

Days 1–30: Audit the site, funnel, and search landscape. Interview customers and our physicians. Deliver a messaging and channel strategy with a prioritized roadmap.
Days 31–60: Ship the foundations — SEO content engine live, social presence active, press list and media kit built, first pitches out.
Days 61–90: First earned-media placements landed, organic traffic trending up, at least two acquisition channels showing repeatable, measurable case volume.

What we're looking for

5+ years in marketing, communications, or PR, including hands-on work at an early-stage or resource-constrained company where you were the one doing it, not briefing an agency.
Demonstrated earned media results — you can point to placements you personally secured and explain the pitch that landed them.
Strong writer. This role is writing-first: pitches, landing pages, guides, scripts, and posts. Please treat your application as a work sample.
Working knowledge of SEO fundamentals and content strategy, with examples of pages or programs that grew organic traffic.
Comfort with analytics and attribution — GA4 or equivalent, plus the ability to make decisions from imperfect data.
Judgment in sensitive, regulated territory. You understand why we say "we advocate rigorously" and never "we'll get your denial overturned," and you'll hold that line even when a punchier claim would perform better.
Genuine self-direction. This is a remote role with little scaffolding; you'll build the marketing function from the ground up, set your own priorities, and be accountable for outcomes.

Nice to have

Background in healthcare, health insurance, digital health, femtech, or another regulated consumer category.
Familiarity with patient advocacy, chronic-illness communities, or health policy.
Experience marketing a genuinely new category, where the work is educating a market rather than winning a comparison.
Short-form video production chops.
Existing relationships with health, tech, or policy reporters.
Personal experience navigating an insurance denial. It's not required — but it shows in the work.

How we work

Fully remote, asynchronous by default, with a weekly working session and direct access to the founder.
You'll ship things the week you propose them.
Every claim we make in market is grounded in what we can actually substantiate. Marketing works alongside our physicians, not around them.
