Full Job Description

Job Summary

We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Social Worker Intern to join our team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in substance use disorders (SUD) and co-occurring mental health conditions and demonstrate a commitment to providing high-quality, ethical, and client-centered care. This role involves working primarily with individuals involved in outpatient and intensive outpatient (IOP) levels of care and requires experience facilitating group therapy, individual therapy, and substance use counseling.

The Social Worker Intern will collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to develop and implement effective treatment plans while ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations and Nevada state requirements.

Duties

Clinical Social Work (CSW) Intern will operate under the supervision of a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW).
Participate in no less than 1 hour of individual clinical supervision per week with assigned LCSW.
Participate in no less than 1 hour of group/clinical supervision at least every other week, including case presentation to address ethical concerns, safety concerns, and differential diagnostics, facilitated by an LCSW and/or licensed mental health professional.
Conduct comprehensive clinical assessments, including substance use, mental health, and suicide risk assessments.
Provide individual and group therapy, including facilitation of SUD and co-occurring disorder treatment groups.
Provide services within IOP and outpatient levels of care, consistent with ASAM Criteria.
Address the behavioral health needs of individuals involved in, or at risk of involvement in, the criminal justice system.
Provide behavioral health crisis intervention, diversion, and referral services.
Conduct Mental Health Holds and apply for mental health emergency admissions in accordance with NRS 433A, including consultation on admission requirements and procedures.
Coordinate and collaborate with internal team members and local community agencies to connect individuals to appropriate services.
Implement operational procedures developed by Four Square Clinicals.
Provide program information and outreach materials at community events and to community partners as available.
Ability to work in Washoe.
Ability to work up to 20 to 30 hours per week.
Meet with supervisor as required for clinical supervision and professional development.

Qualifications

Master’s degree in Social Work (MSW) from an accredited institution is required.
Must possess or be eligible for clinical licensure in the State of Nevada by time of appointment.
Strong background in substance use disorders and co-occurring mental health conditions required.
Demonstrated knowledge of ASAM Criteria and levels of care.
Experience facilitating group therapy, including SUD and IOP groups, is strongly preferred.
1+ year(s) experience working in behavioral health or substance use treatment settings preferred.
Experience working with culturally diverse populations.
Knowledge of human growth and development.
Familiarity with ICD-10 coding and clinical documentation practices.
Maintains current knowledge of social, medical, and psychiatric services available within the community.
Ability to maintain professional boundaries and ethical clinical practice.
Experience with time-limited, evidence-based therapeutic interventions.
Strong understanding of HIPAA regulations and commitment to client confidentiality.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to build rapport with diverse clients.
Compassionate, trauma-informed approach to care.
